Relisting for sale, my 1977 XS 650. This collectible example of Yamaha's tried-and-true vertical twin has undergone a complete rebuild with some upgrades.  Approx. 1000 break-in miles on rebuilt engine. New crank, rods, pistons, rings and seals were installed by the previous owner (Yamaha tech). The much needed clutch push-rod modification was done as well.

The frame, swing arm, triple clamp, fenders and motor mounts were media blasted and powder coated in high gloss black. Bronze swing arm bushings, seals and All Ballz tapered steering neck bearings were installed. The original aluminum shouldered rims were retained and cleaned/buffed. The tires have 1.3k miles of wear to date. The engine cases were polished, an XS Performance two-into one exhaust was installed along with pod type air cleaners. Consequently, the carbs were rebuilt and rejetted with new floats. The stock breather was replaced and a new filter added. Has Pamcopete ignition with a high voltage coil.

The transmission shifts as it should and the clutch operates smoothly, it also appears that the previous owner installed a new chain. The countershaft and wheel sprockets are in excellent shape. This bike starts quickly and runs out cleanly. Tuned by Paparo's Cycle Shop, although not dyno'ed generates about 50hp (maybe more) on pump gas.  Not a beginners bike.

The original faded Maxi Maroon tank although not rusted was replaced by a new tank from Mike's XS together with new petcocks, hoses, clamps, cap (original tumbler was retained), and gasket. The turn signals were replaced with units that are similar but shorter in length. The tail light bracket is new, but the original lense was retained. A short (3") section of 12v LED lights were added to supplement the stop light. All the electrics work as they should, including the starter and charging system.

The front caliper received an upgraded steel braided hose and bracket. The brakes are otherwise unchanged and operate as they should. A new clutch handle perch and Mike's XS mirrors were added. The remaining handlebar controls have been cleaned and repainted. The speedometer face shows its age, the tach looks very presentable. Finally, the seat pan was prepped and painted, the foam was very good and a new seat cover was installed.

The successful bidder will not be disappointed.  My health dictates that this bike needs to go to another enthusiast. The winner will also receive a clean rust-free tank, very presentable stock mufflers and whatever else I have for the XS.
