Up for sale is my pride and
joy, my matching numbers 1966 BMW R60/2 in excellent condition. The VIN # is
629176. It took me two years to restore this motorcycle to my own personal
satisfaction. As to appearance, you can tell from the photographs. The color is
Granada Red, a special order color for 1966.
The motorcycle has 46,765 miles on it since new, and 371miles since the
complete and thorough restoration. It starts on the first or second kick, and
after a brief warm up, runs like a dream.
The restoration was painstakingly done. I stripped the motorcycle down to the last nut and bolt, and rebuilt the engine with all brand new parts including the slingers. Every bushing and bearing was replaced, and polished stainless steel bolts and nuts were used where practical. The carbs were rebuilt using the newer style cab tops. Wheels (SS Spokes) and tires are brand new. All incandescent lamps were replaced with bright LEDs for safety. The Headlight has been converted to Halogen. There’s actually far too much to list here. Suffice it to say, the motorcycle is in as new condition, or even better than new, as it was restored with modern materials (brake pads, clutch, LED lights, EGM battery, etc.) and has an EZ Clutch installed for extremely easy clutch operation. It comes with cover, Deltran battery tender, shop manuals, books, documentation, and a brand new complete set of tools.
If you intend to bid, I encourage you to call me at (305) 775-9368 so I can answer any questions you might have. My name is Jim. If you need additional photos of any specific part of the motorcycle or restoration process, just let me know and I’ll email them to you.
