An outstanding portrait miniature of a gentleman c1855 attributed to George Hewitt Cushman 1814-1876. The c1880s frame retains its tag and number from the prestigious Doll & Richards Gallery, Boston (It’s 2 Park Street Address from this time frame). A beautiful example of the ability of Cushman to achieve photographic-like realism and yet retain painterly expression which allowed him to continue to work in the art form almost until his death. Fine condition, sight size approx 3 1/2” x 3”.
