1980 Yamaha XS650 Special

1100 original miles, Showroom condition. A truly amazing example of Yamaha’s iconic cruiser from the 70’s & 80’s.  You have to see it to fully understand how close to new this bike is. Chrome is near perfect, paint is excellent, the motor has not been sanded and polished that is how nice this bike is. Seat is perfect. It is all original right down to the factory hand grips and OE Dunlop tires.  It has the owner’s manual and tool kit.

All original, never dropped, and always stored inside, she starts easily, idles, runs, shifts, stops, and looks exactly like it did when it was new. All lights, hi-Lo beam, brake and tail light, blinkers, horn and instrument lights are functional. Speedometer and tachometer work. Inspired by the British twins back in the day it has one of the best looking Japanese twin motors ever built.

Press the button or give it a kick and she springs to life. Its twin cylinders purr like an angry mountain lion, it sounds that good: Yamaha got it right with this one. Put it in gear and let out the clutch and you are instantly transported back. It’s a sweet time machine.

Known for its rugged reliability and ease of maintenance it was part of Yamaha’s core line up for well over a decade.  She turns heads and invites questions wherever she goes. Ride and love it, show it, or it would make any collector or museum owner proud to have her in their stable. A fun machine to ride, its light and friendly enough for a new rider, but has enough spunk for experienced riders to have fun on it also. It does all this while getting 50 plus MPG. It’s no wonder the XS650 has been the base for so many show winning custom builds over the years.

The carburetors were rebuilt and tuned, air filter cleaned, oil, filter, and spark plugs changed and a new battery installed.  The tires are the original Dunlops and in great shape with no cracking, but if you plan on doing highway riding I would probably recommend you change them. It doesn’t show on the pictures but the tank has some very light spots, from sun fading on the left side if you look closely. Most people would look it over and never notice. That is pretty much her only “flaw” if you can even call it that. She is one of the few bikes I’ve sold that actually looks better in person than in pictures. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer one. I would even say it probably is the nicest and lowest mileage XS650 for sale on the planet today. It is that nice.

PLEASE READ: Please ask any questions, request additional pictures, or come and see it in person if you're close by.  I do not ship but will make any reasonable effort to assist the shipper of your choice.  If you are picking it up yourself I can help load it. As long as it is paid for in full I can store it indoors for up to 30 days. After that a $25.00 per day storage fee applies.  It is being sold as is, no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied, and all sales are final. A $500.00 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is due IMMEDIATELY on purchase, failure to do so will result in me cancelling your purchase. The balance is due in full within 3 days. I accept PayPal (friends & family), cashier’s check, Venmo, wire transfer, and cash. The bike will not be released until your form of payment clears YOUR bank. If you have a feedback score of less than 10 I will cancel your bid unless you contact me first. I’m sorry for all the rules but too many people bid and don’t pay and screw it up for everyone else. So, do not bid if you're hammered, haven't run it by your significant other, or need to spend the rest of the years rent money. If you can adhere to these simple common sense terms I can personally guarantee you one of the easiest, smoothest, online vehicle transactions you have ever made. It is also available for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Feel free to make an intelligent offer if you're so inclined, but the reserve is lower than you think. Thank you for reading all that.
