1963 Honda CB77Superhawk

Up for sale is my 1963 Honda CB77 Superhawk.  I bought it over 10 years ago from I guy I met at vintage motorcycle rally in Los Angeles. This bike was a barn find and in rough shape when I first saw it. The bike was disassembled and rebuilt after which I purchased it from the second owner (and the gentleman who restored the bike).  While it is not a show bike, it’s a very nice rider. Mileage (10,800) is thought to be original and accurate.

I put around 300 miles on it before putting it in storage around7 years ago. I recently took it out of storage and freshened it up to get it ready to sell. Here is what was done to the bike when it was first delivered tome:

·        Engine and transmission disassembled andinspected, new piston rings, bearings
·        New clutch plates and springs
·        Valve and timing adjustments, and new points
·        Seat reupholstered
·        New air filters
·        New tires
·        New chain
·        Original rims were fitted with new stainless-steelspokes
·        Powder coated blue, grays painted
·        New wiring harness
·        New brake pads
·        New rubber rear fender mud flap
·        New rubber hand grips

What I have done recently to sell the bike:

·        New battery
·        New gas cap
·        New front brake and tachometer cables
·        Oil change
·        New speedo and tach faceplate
·        New rubber: footpegs, air filter hoses,speedometer/odometer gauge gasket
·        New gas lines and carb overflow tubes
·        Petcock rebuild kit - original petcock is on the bike
·        Carbs sprayed cleaned with carb cleaner and new float bowl gaskets added

In May of 2024 I added gas and started the bike to make sure everything was running fine. And while the bike was running, it took some time to warm up and idle on its own. I believe the air/fuel mixture is off so the carbs will need to get adjusted and tuned in (This fine tuning is beyond my capabilities). All fuel has been drained from the tank, fuel lines and carbs at this point.

A few additional items worth mentioning:

·        The bike has the somewhat hard to find and priceyside stand.
·        I don’t have the side handle that bolts to the frame to assist with getting the bike on its center stand.
·        I don’t have the original tool kit or owner’s manual.
·        For folks in California, I have a 1963 YOM black plate that comes with the bike, and which is currently registered with it

I took pictures of all the blemishes I could find including the areas of pitting on the chrome mufflers. The paint and powder coating are pretty nice but not exceptional or show. If I had to give an overall rating on the bike’s cosmetics, it would be a 7.5 and possibly an 8. It looks great at 5feet away. You do need to view up in close to see all the imperfections.
