1957 Triumph T110 Tiger
Here is a great example of a factory optional two-tone, ivory and blue with gold striping, Triumph T110 Tiger for 1957. Its all ready to kick over and give its new owner a great running, riding, and showing bike to enjoy!
I have been lucky to take care of this bike for a few years having purchased it from its previous owner who bought it from Baxter Cycle. The story is that the restorer, Ray Ware, had a philosophy to restore two of the same bikes at a time, if possible. This and a nearly identical T110 were restored and Baxter purchased them to resell. One ended up with its previous owner in Iowa who I purchased it from, the other went to Brian Setzer, and you can see how much he enjoys his as it made the cover art for his 2021 album Gotta Have the Rumble.
After purchasing I had The Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club check the factory records and confirm the frame, engine, and gearbox numbers all match the Meriden Works despatch records, with a manufacture date of April 25, 1957 and subsequently despatched to Triumph Corporation in Baltimore on April 27th. The machine dating certificate will be included in the sale.
The bike runs and rides as it should, slung low and peppy, but very comfortable for an old ride. I have put around 500 miles in the few years I've owned it, and its been a pleasure the entire time. It starts right up, settles into a nice idle after a few seconds from cold, and has never wanted the use of the choke, which is still installed, it just likes a little flood of the monobloc. Its usually a one kick bike (see the video!) The clutch pull is easy and the gearbox snicks in nicely as it should. The brakes work well and it stops straight ahead at its supposed to. The tires are fairly recent with an Avon Speedmaster up front and a Dunlop K70 on the factory quickly detachable wheel out back. The electrics were completely gone through during its restoration with everything functioning correctly. It is still a 6v system.
I installed a new battery in it last year along with having a tune up performed at Morrie's Place last summer. The service included replacing the fuel lines, checking the ignition timing and replacing the leads and plugs, an oil change, and a few rubber bits getting swapped for new. I also removed the vinyl sticker type decals and replaced them with waterslides. The front plate holder/pedestrian slicer decals are removable stickers. The bike has a clean and clear Illinois title, in my name, ready to be signed over to its next owner.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have or take any additional photos. Please see the terms below and reach out for any clarification or if you need to work something else out prior to purchase or making an offer. I try to be reasonable when selling vintage vehicles and have found nearly all buyers to be the same, so please don't hesitate. Thank you!
