1974 Dunstall Norton Commando 850. Freshly painted and matched to the original blue. The oil tank was rebuilt by CNW, (and they did their gear box cover polishing and seal modifications) A new, anti-sumping timing cover (MKIII) was sourced from Norvil. A new NOS master cylinder, and rebuilt wheel cylinder were installed, along with a Pazon electronic ignition and rebuilt instruments. A new Dunstall 2-1-2 header system is installed. New chain and sprockets. New cables, New tires on what I believe to be the original Borriani Record Alloy rims. The center stand is correct as are the fork stops, rear sets. Almost all of the old parts were saved and come with the bike The engine and gearbox have matching numbers. The frame onlt has the original Farina number. The Norton Club of England was asked about the factory records, they have none for this bike, although the bike seems to have been titled a “Dunstall” thru the past 4 title changes. There is a clear Florida title. Mileage is unknown, but was sold to me with 8k on the clock. The original Lucas turn signals are mounted but have not been wired and are not working. Side
covers are not original and seem to be a fiber glass reporoduction. I have a pair of Oval Dunstall tank decals but when we took down the paint, we found the original bike had "Norton" lettering on the side of the tank (check the pictures). It will be your choice how to finish those details. This Norton rides fine, and starts easily. |
