Maravell and published by Alpine Fine Arts Collection, Ltd. (catalogue raisonne #63).  It is signed and in excellent condition.

Alex Katz is renowned for his figurative paintings, which examine the nature of representing the three-dimensional world on canvas in simplified portraits and landscapes.  His allegiance to figuration and his embrace of the two-dimensional surface prefigured these features in Pop Art in the 1960s.

Katz has held solo exhibitions at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, at the Jewish Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and at the Centro de Arte Contemporaneo de Malaga in Spain, among other venues, and has received several honors for his work, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

About Us
Brooke Alexander began publishing prints and multiples in the fall of 1968. The range of artists that he initially chose - from painterly realists such as Jack Beal and Fairfield Porter to hard-edge abstractions such as Joseph Albers- was an early clue to the versatility and scope that have characterized his productive career. Consistently working with both established and emerging artists, he has published over 1,500 editions with more than 75 painters and sculptors. Surveying his publications thus offers a particularly dynamic view of American printmaking of the last quarter century.

As a publisher without a workshop, Alexander has had the freedom to work with a wide range of printers and maintain a fresh and varied approach to his projects. He moved the gallery to Soho in 1985, and opened a separate space devoted entirely to prints in 1989. This new space has been used to mount several museum quality exhibitions.

For 45 years Brooke Alexander, Inc. has published work of a singular quality and merit as well as contributed to the understanding of contemporary art through its discerning exhibitions and produced catalogues. Its sustained support for the field of printed art continues to be a significant asset to contemporary art today.

Brooke Alexander, Inc. is located at 59 Wooster Street in Soho where historically significant exhibitions such as Jasper Johns and Barnett Newman, Josef Albers/Ken Price, and Dan Flavin/ Donald Judd: Sculpture and Works on Paper, have been a part of its regular program. He continues to publish prints and multiples with today's leading contemporary artists such as Richard Tuttle, Richard Artschwager, John Baldessari, and Raymond Pettibon.

Each print purchased by you is carefully wrapped with archival materials and packed in its own box by our on staff professional art preparator, then shipped FedEx to ensure safe travel. Thank you for your support! Enjoy your visit.
