BMW Motorrad ushers in a new era for sport-touring riders with the fast, fun and versatile K1200GT. Based on the enigmatic K1200S and K1200R platform, the K1200GT offers up all the performance you could possibly need from a touring machine while simultaneously providing creature comforts that will endear it to Beemer aficionados as well as those not yet afflicted with a taste for BMW's Teutonic quirkiness.

BMWs are best known for tourers, and here we have the K1200GT, the more touring-oriented version of the sporty K1200. The top-to-bottom quality finish is what you can come expect.

The 2006 BMW K1200GT is an upgrade from previous generation BMW K1200GTs. It uses BMW’s latest frame and across the frame four cylinder engine which is a much faster, more stable motorcycle with more luxury.

Early BMW K1200GT motorcycles used BMW’s old flat four engine – a power plant which BMW are phasing out. But this all new BMW K1200GT gets the in-line four which appears to be the future for BMWs four cylinder bikes – a far more advanced engine pushing out 150bhp and capable of 165mph in the BMW K1200GT

The servo-assisted linked brakes work well, and the ABS rear brake gives this extra level of security  - every bike should have one.  The suspension works well, with nice front anti-dive and the rear stuck like glue at all times.

Compared to prior version of this motorcycle the 2006 BMW K1200GT provides a much higher level of touring comfort yet also weighs less and handles far better thanks to a massively superior frame and suspension. Cruising at high speed with a passenger and luggage is what this bike does well. With a claimed 152bhp and a 24-litre tank capacity, 200 miles or more should be a doddle in one stint. Rider comfort can be tailored to your individual requirements as the handlebars and seat height can be adjusted to suit nearly all shapes and sizes.

The BMW K1200GT's riding position is comfy for both rider and pillion, the electrically adjustable screen is useful, shaft drive effective and maintenance free, panniers useful and instruments comprehensive.

The BMW K1200GT is well built and shrugs off the weather better than most Japanese motorcycles and is aeons ahead of Italian motorcycles.
