This one owner 2004 Suzuki GXS-R 1000 has 223 miles showing from new. That is not a misprint, 223 original miles. It was purchased with the idea of being an occasional track day bike but when other bikes were purchased, the bike was never ridden and it was put away on display almost immediately. The bike is as cosmetically flawless as a bike can be from show room new given the years it sat statically. It has been ridden a few miles, put in the owner’s shop and until recently had not see day light in over 7 years. It was run occasionally to warm the oils the first few years, but when a battery was installed recently, we found the fuel had not been stabilized and the fuel pump expired along with creating rust scale on the inside of the fuel tank. As no fuel pressure was created, nothing was pushed into the injectors or motor and it was a matter of replacing both the pump and tank with new parts from Suzuki for a quick $1,600. Please, when you leave your bike for extended periods of time, fill the damn tank to the top with non-ethanol fuel and add Stabilizer or drain it completely. This sort of damage does not have to occur.

The story on the bike is interesting. The owner had a 2003 Suzuki GXSR1000 that he was in love with, in fact had added Wheels, Attack Triple Clamp and Rear Sets and a Pipe. As an ex-racer, he loved doing track days and one of his favorite was 3J’s put on by Sears Point to fund local Charities. On the warm up lap of the first session in turn 3A, another rider who had obviously had too much coffee, did a dumb pass and chopped off Greg’s front wheel, causing the Suzuki to slide and then tumble. The bike was a write off. As soon as he was able, he visited the Suzuki dealer and bought another identical bike except a year newer and rode it home. The next week he spied a 2004 Ducati 749R which he bought and his focus became that bike with the Suzuki rolled into the garage, not be to ridden again until now.

The bike is absolutely stunning. It is like walking into a Suzuki Dealership in 2004 and seeing a brand new GXSR1000. There are no marks anywhere, the tires still have the casting tits on them, all of the stickers are in place and perfect, seeing the bike is like going into a time warp. With the new fuel tank, pump and a ½ gallon of non-ethanol fuel, the bike fired up instantly and ran without fault. It was run until the cooling fan cycled and turned off. It would be a simple matter to pickle the engine removing the balance of the fuel. If you are looking for the most original, dealership new quality 2004 GXSR1000 outside of Barber or the Suzuki Factory Museum, you have just found it
