They say if you stand in one spot long enough, you will see the entire world go by. The same can be said of old motorcycle racers. This 1975 Yamaha RD350 is a mixture of not only a lot of parts, but a lot of memories. I have included the story that the Rogers shared with me as part of the description as I could never duplicate the love and technical details their story covers in detail. At the end of the day, this RD is a very special bike and anyone with a love and understanding of Club Racing in the good old days will get a kick out of their devotion to this model of bike and the memories it brings back.
It is not a trailer queen, it is meant to be driven and that is how it was built by Dennis for his wife Sharron. Dennis came by today and told me in absolute terms that the bike could be driven to Willow Springs (11 hours south of here), prepped for a 6 hour endurance race, compete and then be driven home without a hiccup. He is that sure of the quality of the bike. Look over the build sheet and you will see the depth of expertise and knowledge that was shared during the planning and assembly of this motorcycle. With this bike, you not only get a great example of a Vintage 2 Stroke motorcycle, you get a history and story that cannot be made up or replicated. What a great way to share a beer or two.
There is nothing I can add to their story that has any meaning. Most of the pages of the description are only going to be seen on our web page, so you will have to travel there to see the whole story when it is posted. Because the bike was put together from Dennis’s huge stock pile of parts, when it came time to be titled, the Oregon DMV titled the bike as a 1998 Assembled. That is the way it reads, but if you use the VIN number stamped the steering of the frame, you will see what year the bike really is (351303541).
For more images send us your e-mail address and I will forward them on to you. The bike is available for inspection 9-5, Monday through Friday at Automania, 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, OR 97526 541 479 8888, Oregon Dealer DA1287.
