Buell Lightning description

2006 Buell Lightning LONG XB12Ss, CONTACT KYLE FOR DETAILS(480)-898-0559kyle_eurowebsales@live.comThe Long XB12Ss is a lengthened version of Buell s unique XB12S Lightning, and will be offered alongside the original model. The new bike is designed to accomodate larger riders and give a slightly less frantic riding style.Buell Motorcycle Company adds the Lightning Long XB12Ss, a streetfighter with expanded rider and passenger positions and revised chassis geometry, to its line of 2006 Lightning motorcycles. All three 2006 Lightning models have a lighter, stiffer swingarm design, a new,smoother-shifting transmission, and other technical updates for 2006.In addition to the new Lightning Long XB12Ss, the 2006 Lightning line-up includes the Lightning CityX XB9SX and the Lightning XB12S. Each combines an athletic riding position, bold naked styling and the stirring performance of an American V-Twin engine.Inspired by the minimalist profile of a flat-track racer, the Lightning models feature wide handlebars, dual headlights mounted below a short flyscreen, and a clipped, screened-aluminium tail section over a beefy 180mm rear tyre.Buell Lightning XB12Ss Technical upgradesA new transmission features a dog ring design for even quicker shifts with less effort. Helical-designed gears reduce transmission noise, and the oil-change interval is extended to 16090 km from 8045 km. Clutch lever effort has also been reduced, by 15 percent on the XB9SX and by 22 percent on the XB12S.A durable new Goodyear Hibrex final drive belt with Flexten Plus technology requires no scheduled service.A redesigned swingarm (all models except XB12Ss) is stiffer and 0.25 kg lighter than the previous design. The swingarm continues to also function as the oil reservoir, and the oil cap has been relocated and redesigned to be easier to access and open. The inner fender and upper and lower belt guards have been restyled. The engine air intake has been integrated directly on the air-box cover with an aluminum hex screen that wraps around the fuel cap cowling, replacing the air duct that formerly passed through the frame. Fuel-in-the frame capacity is increased to 14.5 litres for the Lightning CityX XB9SX and Lightning XB12S, and to 16.7 litres for the Lightning Long XB12Ss.Street PerformanceEach Lightning model is powered by the Buell Thunderstorm, a 45-degree air/oil/fan-cooled V-Twin engine tuned to deliver the broad powerband and tyretwisting torque that s perfect for real-world street performance. Both the 83-hp Thunderstorm 984 and 100-hp Thunderstorm 1203 cc feature electronic fuel injection for precise throttle control. The Thunderstorm 1203 cc engine also features Buell InterActive Exhaust, which utilises a valve in the dual-chamber muffler that is controlled by the ECM and adjusts exhaust flow according to riding conditions to smoo

AMA Pro Racing Announces Basic Twins Flat Track Class for 2014 Season

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

AMA Pro Racing announced a new class for Flat Track racing designed to provide a new stepping stone for up-and-coming Pro-licensed racers, replacing the Pro Singles class in 2014. The new class, to be called Basic Twins, is more or less a revival of the Basic Expert Twins division that ran during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but dropped when the Pro Singles class was introduced for 2009. The new class will give young racers a chance to showcase their skills on Twins, easing their transition to eventually enter the Grand National Expert Twins class.

EBR First American Sportbike To Score Points In WSBK, Makes History

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

The EBR 1190RX had its best finish to date in the FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK) series during the only US round at Laguna Seca in Salinas, Calif., this past weekend. In an exciting twist, the wild card entry of Larry Pegram running the #72 Foremost Insurance/EBR/AMSOIL/Hero entry garnered a 14th place finish in the second race, earning the first-ever WSBK points for an American motorcycle manufacturer.  [In actuality, Pegram's EBR crossed the line in 16th place. However, the two Bimota BB3 entries who finished eighth and ninth with riders Ayrton Badovini and Christian Iddon, respectively, have had their finishes nullified all season because Bimota has not met the FIM's homologation requirements.

Thu, 01 May 2014

Erik Buell Racing (EBR) has announced it will partner with K&L Supply to enter the #13 EBR 1190 with Cory West in the Sonoma round of the Superbike Shootout series this coming weekend, May 3-4. “EBR is very excited with this new opportunity to run the EBR 1190 in front of the race fans. We had commitments that made it impossible to attend the first Superbike Shootout round in Fontana, but with K&L Supply adding their support we were able to make a rush trip from our test in Louisiana last weekend to the beautiful Sonoma Raceway track in Sonoma, California,” announced Erik Buell, founder of EBR.
