Buell Lightning description

Hi.  It's time to let her go to a new home.  She sounds amazing, hands down the best thing about this bike (that and the cornering).  I'm only letting her go because I have two bikes and currently need the money more then two bikes.

I do a TON of commuting, I'm 47 and like to hit turns really well, I don't pull wheelies or race the thing so the mileage is really just lots of highway I don't abuse my machines.
I take good care of my bike but I own it to ride it.  It is in really good shape but not showroom pretty; if you want to polish it up it will thank you, but I'd rather ride then clean ;)

First a few things it took me a little research to figure out:
- It is a Lightning SCG
- It has a Firebolt nose & tail.
- In essence it is the smallest, lowest Firebolt you can have.  This is perfect for anyone with a short inseam.  I'm 6' and my knees are very much bent up and that's with my feet on the ground!

In the past few years I have owned her here are some of the things I have done:
- Brand new wiring harness, I was having issues and decided to get a Firebolt harness so as to put things where they fit better on this modified version. Basically to get the ECM out from under the cramped seat and back under the nose where it actually fits.
- I also ordered all the little screws and connectors to bring everything back that I found missing (I'm a bit retentive about things like that)
- K&N air filter
- Removed inner airbox cover
- Reran breather hoses to the external breather catch can (from American Sportsbike), see picture.
- HID low beam w/ PIAA high beam. (HID is awesome!)
- New start switch cluster (still have old one, was getting a bit squirrely)
- Shorai battery (nice improvement, get one)
- Brand new ECM from EBR mapped to current configuration (with D&D exhaust)
- New oil return line
- New neutral switch (has not been installed yet)
- New crankcase cover
- New rear cooling fan
- New custom Barnett clutch cable
- Renthal grips & Driven bar ends

Other things to know:
- I have both the regular pegs & a lowered set.  I have a bad knee so I got a lowered set for the right side to help relive the pressure (I'm not ready for a cruiser yet).
- I have brand new ignition key set as I thought it was a problem but wound up being a short, so I still have it.
- I have all the parts I took off the bike
- I have the ECM software, the original race ECM, the map that was on the bike when I bought it & the new map from American Sportsbike along with the ECM Spy cable.  I wasn't happy or trusting myself so I just got a brand new one from EBR and all is good.
- Tons of stainless screws and hardware that could come in handy.
- I changed the oil & trans every 3k using Harley fluids.
- I do have all receipts.

If I was keeping the bike I would:
- Tyres will go for about half the season then need to get replaced.
- At that time I was thinking about a belt & tensioner (why not)
- Maybe also check the wheel bearings then too.
- Brake pads probably mid season too.

That's about it.  I'm sorry I didn't leave much left for the new owner to do; I even gave it fresh oil & trans fluid so you don't even have to worry about that.

If you have any questions at all, just ask.  Want a picture of something specific, no problem.
