Buell Firebolt description

Relisted due to non payment.  BUELL XB9, a 2005 California model XB9SX converted to an R model - carbon canister removed.  I had intended to build this into a dedicated track bike, but decided on a hybrid street and track capable machine.  Included in this build are:

  • 1 set of new (just scrubbed in) Pirelli Diablo tires
  • Modified frame (quick release Buell gas cap, welded on bosses for frame sliders)
  • New fuel pump (later model)
  • Energy One racing clutch
  • Remapped ECM
  • Jardine carbon fiber can
  • EBR race springs (forks and monoshock)
  • EBR rear brake rotor
  • Air box delete
  • K & N filter
  • Breather reroute with catch can
  • Pro-Flo billet clip-ons
  • CRG adjustable levers
  • Buell frame protectors
  • Skeen Racing Delrin sliders
  • Short stalk BUELL mirrors (no gawky long stemmed mirrors from later models)
  • EBR carbon fiber upper fairing professionally painted and color matched to an OEM Ulysses air box cover
  • EBR belly pan (to pass tech) professionally painted and color matched to an OEM Ulysses air box cover. The belly pan is attached via Dzus D-ring half turn fasteners
  • Modified seat fairing, professionally painted
  • Steering head/both wheels/ have new bearings
  • new front isolator
  • new rectifier
plus a whole host of parts and hardware required to convert an XS into an R.  The ECM was remapped professionally but still requires metalogging to fine tune the fuel map.  Odometer will vary as this is my daily ride.  For those living some distance away, please check out ebay's shipping service.  You can get rate quotes for transport to your zip from four different carriers!

Search for "Buell XB9R Walkaround and ridearound" on youtube to see and hear this bike.

Thanks for your interest everyone, but please, I'm not interested in trades and I'm not giving this machine away.  I'll entertain reasonable offers, so think about what has gone into this bike.  By all means, ask me any questions about this build.  It's well documented and I have a ton of pics as well.

This BUELL with orange front end and black rear end (including swing arm and wheel) is a striking machine that turns a lot of heads!   :-)

Erik Buell Featured on Entrepreneur.com

Sat, 25 Feb 2012

Entrepreneur.com, the web presence of Entrepreneur magazine, has a feature article on Erik Buell and his Erik Buell Racing (EBR) company. While the article reveals some lack of knowledge of the two-wheeled world by overusing the term “crotch rocket” as the generic description for sportbikes, this is forgivable considering it’s coming from a publication specializing in small businesses and, well, entrepreneurs, and not motorcycles. The article otherwise does a good job of giving a brief but broad synopsis of Buell and the triumphs and tragedies encountered with BMC (Buell Motorcycle Company) — it’s a good primer on Buell if you’re not fully up to speed on Buell’s life in motorcycles.

Results From Day 1 Of World Superbike Testing At Phillip Island

Mon, 17 Feb 2014

Eugene Laverty, aboard his Voltcom Crescent Suzuki GSX-R1000, led the field today as the first day of World Superbike testing got underway at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia, site of the first race of the 2014 season. Under sunny skies and perfect weather conditions, Laverty adapted quickly to his new ride after spending last season aboard the Aprilia RSV4 Factory. The Suzuki offered incredible feedback and allowed him to push right out of the gates, ultimately setting a fastest lap time of 1:30.513.
