1961 BSA 650 A10R SUPER ROCKET Rare Pre-unit Factory Hotrod with Big Valve Head, Full Race Cam If you're familiar with BSA motorcycles, they have pretty confusing names. This one is not to be confused with the plain 'ol "Golden Flash" 650 models. The bike offered here is a rare factory hotrod SUPER ROCKET with a big valve aluminum head, full race cam and Amal 389 carb. Lots of chrome abounded and it turned out 50 horsepower-quite impressive for a single carb 650 twin at that time. This Super Rocket also has the super rare. correct 140 mph speedo, a factory item often missing and replaced with the more common 120 mph speedo. I have not opened the engine, but I have checked the numbers on the head and confirmed it is the correct big valve head with casting #67-1549. This motorcycle needs restoration. The engine turns freely but no attempt has been made to start the bike. The smaller optional "sport" tank is fairly clean on the inside and has a couple of small dents. Both tank badges are New Old Stock items, but one has a hairline crack. The front fender is a very rare OEM (Original equipment manufacture) New Old Stock item in mint condition. As you can see it is not attached as the rear stay is missing. I also have an NOS non-valenced front fender that I will trade out if the buyer wishes. The exhaust needs to be replaced and the "cocktail shaker" silencers are not original. The bike is mostly complete with a few things known to be missing-the front fender rear stay, carburetor drip tray, and the chain guard. As you will see if you look up the numbers, it is a correct Super Rocket matching numbers bike. Frame # GA719291, engine # DA10R5236. You can also see in the photo of the engine number an "HHC" stamped in the case. This signified the high compression engine. This motorcycle comes with a clear California title in my name. There is a very reasonable reserve on this auction. This motorcycle is not advertised elsewhere, and this auction is the exclusive opportunity to purchase it. Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub

Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.
