BMW r60/2 description
Hi guys, Up for auction is my beautiful 1965 r60/2 600cc boxer, the last motorcycle in my collection. It has had a complete & comprehensive nut & bolt restoration by Mike Kron between 2003 & 2005. Mike Kron is a renowned and respected BMW marque specialist in Germany and has carried out restorations for the BMW museum. Mike also builds BMW Rennsport and Munch Mammut replicas amongst his work. This is of course, a matching engine & frame numbers machine. It comes with a Certificate of authenticity from the BMW factory’s historic archive. It was built 01–06–1965, despatched, and arrived in France 08-07-1965 and was delivered with a dual seat. Mike carried out 150 test kilometers on completion of the restoration and the bike has only covered 32 kilometers since, the last 5 miles just last week to insure everything was perfectly in order. All kilometers in dry conditions. Mike always carries out test miles to ensure everything is working as it should. This motorcycle has of course been stored in a heated dehumidified workshop. Engine has been turned over every couple of months and fluids changed once a year. Fogging oil was also used in the barrels, gearbox, final drive and shaft drive as a corrosion inhibiter. This r60/2 has had two owners from new including myself, the bike comes with the Irish registration document. I purchased the bike from Martin Kornhas in Germany in 2003 and Mike restored it over the subsequent two years. It had spent it’s life in France since first delivery and so suffered very little corrosion. Receipt from Martin Kornhas comes with the bike. The r60/2 was also assessed by Mike before purchase. The fact this was a French bike is indeed evident in the overall appearance of the machine and shows, in particular in the exceptional condition of the crankcases and gearbox cases showing no marks, scratches or dings whatsoever. It also has the original now restored Weinmann wheel rims. These are now, becoming extremely hard to find. This BMW starts easily, stops well, pulls strong and does not leak oil. It has excellent fuel economy and delivers extremely smooth running from the 600cc motor. The fact they were used as sidecar machines really shows in the torquey nature of the engine and the general engineering and build quality of these bikes. Absolutely everything was restored, refurbished or replaced and very many performance modifications made in the process. Any other parts I have failed to list were fully restored/refurbished to exacting standards as is standard for Mike. These lists below do not include all other modifications/upgrades that Mike carries out as standard on his restorations. Mike’s full list of costings come with the bike. Could This Innovative New Light Save Your Life?
Thu, 19 Aug 2010Everyone knows brake lights are to alert drivers behind you, but what about when you roll off the throttle, and tailgating drivers fail to notice your decreasing rate of speed? Would you like them to know you’re decelerating, rather than potentially becoming another statistic? Nikkos Designs of Fort Myers, Fla.

Wed, 08 Jun 2011Actor and adventure rider Charley Boorman is getting ready for another journey, this one taking him across the Great White North on a tour of Canada. Best known for his Long Way Round and Long Way Down documentaries with his friend and riding partner Ewan McGregor, Boorman is touring Canada for a new series called Extreme Frontiers: Canada for the U.K.’s Channel 5. BMW Motorrad Canada will provide Boorman with his ride, likely from its GS line.
Charley Boorman’s BMW R1200 GS Adventure Stolen – and Recovered
Fri, 27 Apr 2012Adventure touring documentary star Charley Boorman and his BMW R1200GS Adventure have traveled a long way together, but the motorcycle had a bit of an adventure on its own after thieves stole the bike. The stolen BMW wasn’t the one Boorman rode with Ewen McGregor in “Long Way Round” (that was a R1150GS Adventure) or the one used in the sequel “Long Way Down“. Boorman did ride it on his last project, “Charley Boorman’s Extreme Frontiers: Canada”.
