BMW R-Series description

This is an original one owner bike with a clear title matching numbers. It is a genuine R90S, and can be verified by running the VIN on a vintage BMW serial number reporting site. This bike has been resting for the last six years so it needs revitalization of the carbs to be a nice runner. It currently runs and drives but needs the Delortos carburetors dialed in to have the great performance typical of this bike. The machine is completely original except for a dyna electronic ignition that is brand new. The bike starts and runs good indicating, a good drive train, including good clutch, and transmission. As I have already mentioned the carbs aren't tuned properly so the bike is no fun to drive. (Note to any potential buyer if you are good with the Delorto carbs you could use my shop to tweek them and drive the bike home. I have access to an ultrasonic cleaner any time.) Other than the paint, this bike is very clean over all with great brilliant clear chrome. The aluminum is all very nice. The original owner always had the bike in a very clean dry area. When driven the bike was motored from garage to garage typically. Every part that came with the bike when new is still there including tool tray, owners manual, and tool kit. The bike is painted smoke black & silver and the paint is OK. Their are some interesting points about this paint work. Under the tank in the tunnel is the daytona orange color and the same is to be found on the seat pan. The gas tank and front fender have stick on pin stripes instead of painted on. When I first got the bike I thought it was in some kind of accident and the tank and seat were replaced. I asked my friend if he had ever wrecked the bike and he insists the bike was never wrecked and that the paint is original. That seemed wierd but I figured my friend would know if the bike was wrecked or not as he is the original owner and isn't crazy or senile. I was still scratching my head over this paint thing until I checked with a BMW paint supplier and he confirmed that BMW, in order meet demand for early R90S bikes repainted some bikes at the factory. So this smoke black is an over paint of the daytona orange color--believe it or not. Front rim is steel and not correct, but I have an aluminum rim that goes with the bike. I also am including a seat cowl correct for the year and model to replace the butchered seat pan. The pan was modified to permit a luggage rack to fit. The seat has some blems that are repairable but a got vinyl repairman, guages are crisp and working, botton on handle bar acts as a starter botton, tires are OK, electrical is working, tank is solid and straight. Windshield is nice and the dash and fairing are not damaged. Front rotors are excellent. Rear frame area, the one that removes needs to be tweeked a little as it is off to one side slightly. This is nice untouched original and a great place to start a restoration. To inquire further about this bike call Eric at 920-205-zero zero one three.
