BMW R-Series description
NO RESERVE! ONE BID WINS!!
2000 BMW R1150GS, silver in great condition. Motorcycle has ABS, heated grips and center stand. Has only about 5,000 miles on front tire and less than 300 miles on rear tire. Recent oil and filter change. I have title free and clear. Bike currently has numerous add-ons such as:
Ohlins Shocks Front and Rear (handles great)
Jesse Luggage System (recently repainted and new key set)
Engine Crash Bars (recently repainted)
PIAA Driving Lights
Corbin Driver Seat (have original BMW front and passenger seats)
Rear Luggage Rack
Z-Technik Windscreen
Replaced numerous fittings with stainless steel
Tank Bag (not currently on bike)
Everything works on the bike, no mechanical issues. The rear drive was replaced with a new unit at 89K miles and the clutch was replaced around the same time (maybe around 92K miles. Both were performed at BMW shops. Have records of these plus major service completed at around 110K miles. It has some scratches that would be associated with a bike of this age and mileage, do not expect a show piece, these bikes were meant to be ridden! Bike currently has 116,100 miles or so. Want to make room in my garage before the winter.
Have more pictures, please e-mail and I will send if interested.
Bike is sold as is, where is. I will assist in any way I can with your shipper (at buyer's expense).

FIM to Revise WSBK Homologation Requirements
Fri, 17 Jan 2014The International Motorcycling Federation is considering modifying its homologation requirements for the World Superbike Championship following Bimota‘s somewhat surprising plans to re-enter the series. Under current regulations, manufacturers must produce a minimum number of motorcycles for it to be eligible to compete in the production-based WSBK championship. The official regulations currently require a minimum of 125 units produced for an initial homologation inspection, 500 units produced by June 30 of the current year, 1,000 units by the end of the current year and 2,000 units by the end of the following year.
Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show
Mon, 28 Sep 2009Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.
