1973 BMW R-Series (1973)
Up for bidding is a 1973 BMW R60 / 5 motorcycle. This motorcycle was from an estate, found in the back of the garage covered by a mountain of bankets. Apparently, the bike was running well when last driven, sometime about 3-4 years ago. There is no battery, so we haven't tried to start it. The wheels roll freely, engine isn't frozen or anything, seems to have compression when kicking, there are no drips/leaks, tires are decent and hold air well, it does come with the keys. The title was issued to the owner in 1980, and he had it ever since. That's 36 years with the same owner, a buyers dream. The odometer reads 97671, and the BMW dealer sticker from the last oil change, on the inside rear fender, reads 97409. So, I believe the mileage is probably accurate, and there's no reason to think that the bike wouldn't still run fine. I can see that the right side cover is missing, but otherwise this bike looks to be pretty complete. It even has the original tool kit and users manual under the seat. All of the lights/lens are good, except for the tail light lens which has been slightly broken. The seat is in great shape, with no rips or tears. I took a lot of pictures, so that you'd get a good idea of the bikes overall condition. If you're looking at this bike, you know how rare these "Toasters" are becoming, as they only made them for a couple of years. I am listing the bike with a very reasonable starting price, well below current NADA blue book values for this model, and the high bidder will get to take this home. Looking at part prices for this bike, I would guess that one could even just part it out and make a tidy profit. In my opinion, this is not by any means just a parts bike. This should be given some tlc and ridden!! This is a NO RESERVE auction. I have 100% LIFETIME feedback as a seller, so no worries here. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding, and please don't bid if you haven't already got the money to complete the sale. I will be glad to assist any shipper, if one is used.2016-07-15 04:53:30Southfield, Michigan, United States975400

1973 BMW R75/5 SWB Cafe Scrambler. Number Match. Thoroughly Revivified. Fast. (1973)
BACKSTORY I have here one R75/5 SWB classic with matching engine, frame, and badge numbers; it has a model year of 1973 and a build date of 1/1972, so the wiring is fuseless and most of the parts are stamped 1971. I got it as a basket case in the Spring and spent an unreasonable amount of time this Summer reviving and refinishing various components and making a few reversible (non-destructive) modifications. PO replaced the head & base gaskets, pushrod tube seals, etc., got it fired up then lost interest. REVIVAL (I would not call it a "restoration") I stripped & painted the frame and swingarm (spray lacquer; 3 coats black, 3 coats clear) and polished most of the engine casings. All the knurled BMW casing bolts looked great, but much of the other original hardware (hardened nuts & bolts, bushings, motor mounts, brake linkage, seat latch, steering damper, etc.) had a "lovely patina" (ahem), so I de-plated and re-plated all (zinc; 2 to 4 strikes).2013-10-14 00:06:52Norwich, Vermont, US32,2032,950.00

BMW R60/5 TOASTER TANK, A SIMPLE,RELIABLE, MOUNT (1973)
OFFERED, THE CLASSIC TOASTER TANK BMW. THIS BIKE SHOWS HIGH MILAGE BUT HAS HAD ENGINE WORK DONE 15 YEARS AGO AS TOLD TO ME THE THE OWNER. MOST NOTABLY WAS THE VALVE SEAT RETROFIT ALONG WITH OTHER TOP END WORK.. THIS MOTORCYCLE LOOKS GREAT & RUNS THE SAME.. THE COLOR IS A PETROL BLUE REMINISENT OF THE FIRST 100RS BIKES.. CHROME PANELS & SIDE COVERS ARE VERY NICE.. THE PIN STRIPES ARE BURIED BENEATH THE CLEAR COAT....... THIS BIKE WAS STORED FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS EFFECTIVELY BUT WAS STARTED AND USED WHEN THE OWNERS VACATIONED FROM GERMANY.. ////// IT IS MISSING THE KICK START LEVER FOR SOME REASON. // THE TURNSIGNALS MAY OR MAYNOT BE CORRECT... THE TANK HAD BEEN TREATED IN THE PAST( UGH!!), AND IS FAILING.. THIS IS NOT AFFECTING THE FUEL FLOW AND MAY OR MAY NOT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE FUTURE... THE TIRES WHILE SPORTING GREAT TREAD HAVE SOME MINOR CHECKING STARTING ON THE SIDEWALLS,,, I DID A 100 MILE TRIP WITHOUT INCIDENT. <<<<<< NOTHING FANCY , JUST A STRAIGHT FORWARD SLASH 5 FROM BACK IN THE DAY... SPEEDO/TACH WORKS AS DESIGNED //// BEAUTIFUL PAINT , CHROME & ALLOY... >>>> TRANSPORT TO THE BARBER MEET CAN BE ARRANGED ON THE WINNERS BEHALF FOR $ 140.00 THANKS2013-09-25 22:41:04Mims, Florida, US59,0002,200.00

Whats The Deal With KTM Camshafts?
Fri, 18 Oct 2024Motorcycle.comdigs for the truth behind the 790 camshaft hullabaloo Photo by Sebas Romero The internet can be a cruel place sometimes. Keyboard warriors, safe behind the anonymity of their computer screens, can spew words without much thought about the facts or the far reaches of where their words could be seen or heard. Whats worse, seemingly innocent or off-the-cuff remarks can be picked up by a third party and spread like wildfire.

Weve heard that refrain a lot over the years, and its no different for the NT1100 sport-tourer. Introduced in Europe in 2022, the NT1100 is a sport-touring model that shares much of its bones with the CRF1100L Africa Twin.
2025 Husqvarna Vitpilen 801 First Look
Wed, 02 Oct 2024The Svartpilen 801 has a new roadster-styled sibling, as Husqvarna announces the new White Arrow Vitpilen 801. Like the Black Arrow, the Vitpilen adopts the 799cc LC8c Parallel-Twin of the KTM 790 Duke, offering yet a new option to the shared platform. Ryan Adams recently reviewed the Svartpilen 801 and found it a worthy contender in the market that brings its own unique style alongside proven performance. That theme continues with the new Vitpilen, which brings its own take, with more aggressive ergonomics and a bright splash of color in yellow (a silver color is also available if you prefer something less flashy).

Harley's DEI Climbdown Isn't the Woke-ism Defeat You Think it Is
Wed, 21 Aug 2024You may have seen this week that Harley-Davidson has decided to shelve its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Ostensibly, this action came as a result of criticism the company received from right-wing activists - certainly that's the way it's being reported in most media outlets. The thing is, I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.
