    Cleaning out the garage - I'm downsizing to a condominium and the bikes have to go.  I am the 2nd owner of this bike which I bought in 2004 from a private party with 4K miles on it.  I added the BMW right & left system cases and wider & taller windscreen from Wunderlich.  It has normal wear & tear but no damage (never been down) and everything works as it should.  It's due for new tires (last new set went on 7K miles ago); still some tread there but I did have to plug a hole in the rear recently so it's a good idea to replace both.  Bike may have a few more miles on it when you get it as it is my daily driver to and from work weather permitting (~12 miles round  trip).   On Sep-18-13 at 01:59:50 PDT, seller added the following information: This bike is equipped with ABS brakes.

           My wife is in the Screen Actors Guild and works in movies, so the "Milk" production people knew about this bike and rented it for use in the movie. It's the bike in the movie (sequence beginning at about 118 minutes into it) that James Franco uses to pick up Sean Penn (playing the role of Harvey Milk) at the camera shop and take him to the nighttime rally at San Francisco City Hall, where Penn (as shown in image sequence) hops off and goes to make his speech. I have written documentation of its use in the movie.

     Up for sale we have a rear harder to find 2004 BMW R1200C Montauk.  We are a BMW motorcycle dealership & we acquired this motorcycle in trade recently from a store client of ours.  The features on this BMW include heated grips, and ABS Brakes.  This 1200cc BMW motorcycle is in very good condition both mechanically & cosmetically.  There is some pitting visible on the front fender & some rust on the edge of the gas cap (see close up images).  There is also some minor scratches visible throughout the motorcycle, and the left rear turn signal has been repaired.  Otherwise, there is only normal wear on the hand grips & rest of motorcycle.     BACKSTORY I have here one R75/5 SWB classic with matching engine, frame, and badge numbers; it has a model year of 1973 and a build date of 1/1972, so the wiring is fuseless and most of the parts are stamped 1971. I got it as a basket case in the Spring and spent an unreasonable amount of time this Summer reviving and refinishing various components and making a few reversible (non-destructive) modifications. PO replaced the head & base gaskets, pushrod tube seals, etc., got it fired up then lost interest.  REVIVAL (I would not call it a "restoration") I stripped & painted the frame and swingarm (spray lacquer; 3 coats black, 3 coats clear) and polished most of the engine casings. All the knurled BMW casing bolts looked great, but much of the other original hardware (hardened nuts & bolts, bushings, motor mounts, brake linkage, seat latch, steering damper, etc.) had a "lovely patina" (ahem), so I de-plated and re-plated all (zinc; 2 to 4 strikes).

Hero MotoCorps Hires Ex-BMW Designer Braunsperger

Hero MotoCorp has hired former BMW designer Markus Braunsperger to lead the Indian company’s research and development division. Braunsperger once held a similar position with BMW in the early 2000s, developing models such as the K1200S before moving on to BMW’s automobile division where he helped design the 5, 6 and 7 series sedans as well as the X3, X5 and X7 SUVs. Braunsperger will head Hero’s new R&D center in Rajasthan, India, starting in October.

BMW Reports Q2 2014 Financial Results

BMW reported an 11.2% growth in motorcycle sales revenue for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014, thanks to a new best-ever quarterly record of 42,259 motorcycles sold. The record sales quarter also led to a record of 70,978 motorcycles sold in the first half of 2014, the most motorcycles BMW has sold in a six-month period in the company’s 90-year history in the business. The second quarter sales result represents a 5.1% increase on the 40,209 motorcycles sold in the same quarter last year.
