BMW R-Series description

4-Valve twin plug heads, Fuel injection, Heated grips, Power-ABS-linked brakes, Power Aeroflow screen, BMW hard luggage. Everything works, no warning lights illuminated.

Mobil 1 engine oil changed at 45,700, Mobil 1 transmission and rear drive oils changed at 45,000. Plugs changed at 42,000 miles, Detroit Dealer changed fluid in the various braking circuits & clutch also alternator belt at 42,500 miles. New Michelin Road Pilot 3's at 44,000 miles.

Minor defects: Velcro on tank was used by previous owner for GPS mount, still present I have not tried to remove. Black left side panel should be held by four attachments, one is broken, but panel is held firm by the remaining three - it has been this way all the time I have owned it. Some minor scratches on underside. 

Reason for sale. Very few miles by existing owner, a lighter - smaller bike is preferred.

Fly in and ride it home, range is approx 250 miles on a tank, at approx 45 mpg.

No warranty, sold as is.

Michael Dunlop to Race for BMW at 2014 Isle of Man TT

BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.

BMW Produces 500,000th GS Boxer

BMW‘s most important model reached an important milestone as the 500,000th boxer-engined GS rolled off the company’s production line in Berlin, Germany. The landmark liquid-cooled 2014 R1200GS follows a lineage half a million strong of flat-twin adventure tourers tracing back to the first R80G/S produced in 1980. “As a plant it is a privilege for us to continue building on the successful history of the legendary flat-twin GS,” says Marc Sielemann, head of the Berlin plant which produces the bulk of BMW’s motorcycles since 1969.

BMW Reports Q1 2013 Results

BMW reported worldwide sales of 24,732 motorcycles over the first three months of 2013, a slight increase from the 24,373 motorcycles sold in the same quarter in 2012. These figures include sales of 1,110 Husqvarna motorcycles before BMW sold the company to KTM boss Stefan Pierer. Sales revenue from BMW Motorrad however was down 2.7% to 436 million euros (US$569.2 million) over the quarter from 448 million euros last year.
