BMW R-Series description

Up for grabs...Autobahn touring at its best!  2003 BMW R1200CLC.  This bike is totally decked out, and ready for the open road.  Torque 1200 twin power with servo-assisted ABS brakes and all the comforts you'd want on two wheels.  Heated grips, heated rider and passenger seats, lockable trunk and saddlebags, headlight protectors, cruise control, AM/FM with CD player, accessory power outlets, passenger floorboards, bag liners, trailer hitch... I'm sure I forgot something.  Bike also comes with rear bag guards (can be fitted when the trailer hitch is removed), BMW battery charger, and work stand (should work with all R1200s).  Excellent condition, all services documented and records included with the bike.  Only two issues are a cracked headlight glass (has been repair and doesn't leak - see picture) and the LH speaker doesn't work.  Otherwise, she's lovely and trouble-free!  Grab it now before it's gone!

BMW Sales Down 2.3% in First Half of 2012 but Record Finish Still Predicted

Fri, 06 Jul 2012

BMW predicts a record year for motorcycle sales despite a 2.3% dip over the first six months. The first half of 2012 saw BMW sell 59,189 units, down from the 60,580 units reported for the same period in 2011. The decrease is primarily because of a 13.2% drop in sales in June.

IIHS Asks NHTSA to Make ABS Brakes Mandatory for All Street-legal Motorcycles in US

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute have submitted a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration petitioning in favor of making anti-lock brakes mandatory for all new on-highway motorcycles. The letter, addressed to David Strickland, NHTSA administrator, included a recent IIHS study on the effects of ABS on motorcycle fatal crash rates. The report found ABS technology reduces the rate of fatal crashes by 31%, while collision claim rates were 20% lower with ABS-equipped motorcycles.
