BMW R-Series tech info

BMW R-Series description
I cant imagine having any more FUN than this bike for the money.. It handles GREAT, it is FAST, and it sound GOOD.... oh yeah, it looks FANTASTIC too!!
This motorcycle has been kept in my air conditioned basement for the last 4 years. The original owner sold it to me because of his age and health issues, and now I need to do the same. There are NO issues with the paint and no mechanical problems. There is NO indication of wreck damage... I have spent hundreds of dollars adapting this motorcycle to my size of 6'1". These include foot peg lowers, bar-backs, hi-way pegs and brackets, custom seat cover (helps my butt breathe on those long trips). I have also installed a performance muffler, just because I like the sound. It also comes with a stock muffler. A Laminar Lip has been installed on the windshield to redirect wind over tall rider. All these modifications are easily converted to standard with just an hour or so of work. This will return it back to stock.......and you will have $700 worth of extras to sell.. Installed in the last year: $900 BMW clutch assembly, front and rear brake pads, and a set of new Dunlop Road Smart tires. All this with less than 500 miles.. Also, standard equipment includes: anti-lock brakes, heated hand grips, both keys, passenger back rest bar and pad & zipper storage bag, tank bag, rider manual and service booklet. Also a set of new brake pads in wrapper... I can't think of a reason why you should not be able to enjoy this motorcycle maintenance-free for a long, long time! |

Watch A BMW R1200GS Being Built From Start To Finish + Video
Thu, 24 Apr 2014BMW’s venerable R1200GS has a lot of fans around the globe, including us. To my eyes, the GS does a fine job of maintaining a traditional dirtbike’s minimalist appearance, minus those bulging cylinders protruding from either end. But now more than ever, thanks to the introduction of liquid-cooling, the GS is a modern marvel of mechanical and electrical engineering.
IIHS Asks NHTSA to Make ABS Brakes Mandatory for All Street-legal Motorcycles in US
Fri, 07 Jun 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute have submitted a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration petitioning in favor of making anti-lock brakes mandatory for all new on-highway motorcycles. The letter, addressed to David Strickland, NHTSA administrator, included a recent IIHS study on the effects of ABS on motorcycle fatal crash rates. The report found ABS technology reduces the rate of fatal crashes by 31%, while collision claim rates were 20% lower with ABS-equipped motorcycles.
