BMW R-Series description

This 1984 BMW R100RS is a very capable machine.  Prior to my ownership, it was owned by one family since new.  It's received a few very desirable upgrades along the way, notably, the period correct Supertrapp mufflers, lightweight starter and British Police style solo seat. The motorcycle has been fully serviced and is ready to ride, everything works as it should and I would not hesitate sending someone off across the country. Valve adjustment, rebuilt carbs - this bike has the very desirable Bing 40s, the largest available, carbs have been sync'd and tuned, gas tank has been cleaned out, petcocks rebuilt, all fluids changed, new AGM sealed battery. This has to be the most desirable spec for an airhead, dual disks on the front and one on the rear and brembo calipers all round. It's in all round superb condition, registered and insured and currently on the road in daily use.  I can ship the bike anywhere in the country for $500, usually in around 3 weeks depending on which state you're in.  Any inspection welcome.   I'd like to be paid in cash, alternatively I'll accept a cashiers check.

30th Anniversary Edition BMW K1300S Announced for EICMA

Thu, 25 Oct 2012

BMW announced it will mark the 30th anniversary of its K series with a special edition K1300S. The 2013 BMW K1300S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” will be presented at the 2012 EICMA show in Milan, Italy in a couple of weeks’ time. Though perhaps not as popular as BMW‘s R series boxer models, the K series served as a platform for a number of technologies that were either new for BMW or new for the motorcycle industry.

EICMA 2012: Bimota BB2 Concept Revealed with BMW S1000RR Engine

Fri, 16 Nov 2012

Bimota revealed a new concept sportbike at the 2012 EICMA Show equipped with a BMW S1000RR engine. The Bimota BB2 concept is the first product of a new partnership signed with BMW that would see the German manufacturer supply S1000RR engines for Bimota. The S1000RR engine has class-leading numbers, with the 172.4 hp we measured in our 2012 European Literbike Shootout a 10.4 hp advantage over any literbike we dyno’ed for that shootout or the Japanese Literbike Shootout.

BMW Streamlines WSBK Program, Hands Reins to BMW Italia

Mon, 16 Jul 2012

BMW announced it realigning its World Superbike Championship program, with BMW Motorrad Italia taking over as the company’s factory team in 2013. The German manufacturer is currently represented by two teams in the WSBK championship, the BMW Motorrad with Marco Melandri and Leon Haslam and the BMW Motorrad Italia Goldbet team represented by Michel Fabrizio and Ayrton Badovini (there is also a privateer effort of Mark Aitchison riding a BMW S1000RR for the Grillini Progea team.) Next year however, BMW’s Milan-based Italian arm will be responsible for the factory team as well as chassis development and testing. BMW Motorrad itself will focus on developing the power train and electronics.
