BMW R-Series description

This motorcycle needs to used.  I have owned it 1988.  It came from “Cue” at House of Triumph in Elmsford NY with 68,000 miles on the clock..  It has always been my second bike, lightly used and garaged.  Weekend  rides have added about 6000 miles.  It now shows just over 74,000 miles.  In the fall of 2011 it underwent substantial mechanical restoration at Max BMW (Brookfield Ct)  which included rebuilding carburetors, draining and cleaning fuel tank, new brake pads and rotors at the front and new brake shoes at the rear,  new center stand, air filters, new throttle and choke cables,  new horns, new fluids (fork, brakes,  new top-end seals.  Total investment was $5100.  It has a fork brace, café faring, original grips, lots of tread on Metzler tires.  “Easy Clutch” is installed. (http://www.benchmarkworks.com/articles/howto/clutch.html ).  Bike is now in Stuart Florida.   It is running nicely however at my age I need a more sit-up-straight machine.  This bike is powerful, handles well, and is very presentable. Engine 1000cc.  A few small paint needs as shown.  Top of the Bings are discolored and the BMW logos show age.  With many regrets I’m asking $6500.  Bike comes with tool kit and original users manual.  Buyer is responsible for getting it home.  I will help in any way I can including paying a share of shipping charge.

1983 BMW R80G/S Dakar

Tue, 18 Dec 2012

A GS as an investment? This 1983 R80G/S is a good candidate. One owner for 20 years, it was then snapped up by a classic BMW restorer who's rebuilt the engine and fitted a few modern Siebnerock parts including new barrels and pistons.

Brough Superior to Make Moto2 Debut at Silverstone

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

The Taylormade Brough Superior racebike will make its Moto2 racing debut at the British Grand Prix at the U.K.’s Silverstone circuit. Backed by insurance company Bennetts, the one-off entry will feature British Supersport racer Luke Mossey riding the Taylormade Carbon 2 racebike. Led by California-based but British-bred Paul Taylor and John Keogh, the Taylormade project was started to rethink the spark the impending relaunch of the Brough Superior brand as well as to explore new ways of designing prototype race machines.

Fake motorcycle police. Why?

Tue, 17 Jan 2012

People who like to pretend they're police baffle me and annoy me in equal measure. I took this picture the other day at Cobham, about to join the A3 heading to Guildford. I guessed that the guy on the left had just bought his rather fetching BMW off the guy on the right.
