BMW R-Series tech info
BMW R-Series description
Very clean and original touring model with only 7,000 miles! The bike was recently acquired from the original owner who has retired from riding. Original owner had the frame, wheels and miscellaneous mounting brackets professionally repainted/powder coated. There are many new factory parts installed and included with the sale. All bike components and systems are fully functional and in good working order!
The bike is painted the factory original magenta-red color and does have chips, scratches and fading. Only non original parts are a) rear shocks, b) dash headlight mounted switch and c) new Interstate AGM sealed battery. Period correct Konis are installed and work well. The original Nivomat shocks are included with the sale however they are not 'pumping up'. Wiring of aftermarket headlight switch maybe reconfigured to the original control switch. The 1983 models are the most technically advanced twin shock BMWs and this bike, due to mileage and condition, will make an excellent long distance traveler, or member of a collection, or a great platform for a naked, cafe', or custom bike conversion. All questions will be thoughtfully answered. |

Michael Dunlop to Race for BMW at 2014 Isle of Man TT
Wed, 12 Feb 2014BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.
BMW S1000RR Valve Train Working at High RPM [video]
Tue, 23 Feb 2010I’d like to ramble on about a dozen different things relating to this video, but the 3- minute, 19-second clip speaks for itself. However, once the engine is revving at high rpm, watching the cams, finger followers and valve springs seemingly freeze in action due to the incredible speeds, I was reminded of that whole “Dude, the faster I went the more everything around me seemed to slow down,” experience we’ve all heard about or experienced. Enjoy!
Latest on my S1000RR
Mon, 04 Oct 2010Not sure what's going on with the sound in this vid, but it calms down after a minute - sorry! As my long term BMW S1000RR does most of its miles working hard on track days, I felt an early 6000 mile service might be a good idea. A quick phone call to my local dealer (the friendly and efficient Pidcocks) saw my bike in the workshop the following week and back in my hands by lunchtime.
