BMW R-Series description

1980 BMW R100 custom cafe racer. This bike started as a stock bike owned by an older gentleman who commuted on it, and put close to 50,000 miles on it doing so. It was then purchased by a friend who spent thousands in services and customizations by a BMW specialist shop in Georgia. I purchased it from him and gave it a rework of my own style, as well as some added service. Everything on this bike has been gone over and I just replaced all of the engine top end gaskets a few weeks ago. It starts right up and runs beautifully. It has roughly 4,000 miles since the rebuild and most of the recent services.

The wheels were just powdercoated gloss black and the Avon tires only have a couple thousand miles on them. This bike has three disc brakes and they have all been rebuilt and have new stainless lines and pads for improved performance. The suspension was just rebuilt and the front end has been internally lowered for a much better look, along with the low clip on handlebars for the real cafe racer feel. There is a gorgeous Motogadget speedometer to keep track of your speed and mileage. The fuel tank has been given a fresh BMW Alpine White paint job, and the racing stripes are decals with can be removed if they are not your style. The tank is topped off with a custom hand machined billet gas cap. The rear subframe is a custom unit and my favorite part of the bike. It has a LED rear tail light and brake light strip on the end of it. The seat is custom made for the bike and covered in red leather with a double stitch diamond pattern. Black billet aluminum rearsets complete the cafe ergonomics. They are a great match with the clip on handlebars.

There is an airbox delete kit on the bike and it has a upgraded lithium ion battery mounted semi-hidden under the seat. The carburetors were fully rebuild and ultrasonically cleaned, along with being rejetted. They are fitted with high performance dirtbike style airfilters for better looks and performance. The exhaust is a custom mounted set of mini mufflers that sound aggressive without being obnoxious, and the rest of the exhaust has been wrapped with high heat header wrap to keep things nice and cool.

This bike needs absolutely nothing other than a new owner ready to enjoy it! Everywhere this bike goes it forms a crowd. Park it next to a new $30,000 Harley and no one will even notice the other bike. A true cafe racer that is a blast to ride around on! I can assist with shipping both internationally and domestically. Clean Florida title in hand.

Mmmmm, Toasted

Mon, 20 Oct 2008

While some fortunate souls who live south of the Mason-Dixon line are able to ride their beloved beasts all year long, some are forced to put their hogs into hibernation by mother nature come winter time. Although most motorcyclists have little use for wintry weather, autumn is a truly beautiful time of year to ride. Granted, the days become shorter and the wind colder, but navigating your way through winding roads amid the vibrant colors of changing leaves is enough of a reward within itself.

MV Agusta Chairman Hubert Trunkenpolz Interview – Part One

Wed, 26 Jun 2024

Back in the Black Photos by Fabio Polimeni In November 2022 Italian trophy brand MV Agusta, wholly owned since 2019 by Russian entrepreneur Timur Sardarov and his family, and Pierer Mobility AG – KTM’s parent company – reached an agreement on ‘future strategic cooperation’, as a result of which the Austrian firm headed by Stefan Pierer would acquire a 25.10% stake in MV Agusta via its KTM AG subsidiary. At the first meeting of the newly constituted MV Agusta board on November 15, a capital increase of €30 million was agreed, denoting the sum KTM had paid to acquire its new minority shareholding in the company. As part of this strategic alliance KTM took charge of purchasing all components needed to manufacture MV Agusta’s entire range of models, as well as responsibility for marketing, distribution and after-sales service for MV Agusta on a global basis outside Italy.

Von Kuenheim: BMW Must Start Winning in WSBK Before Entering MotoGP

Fri, 16 Mar 2012

MotoGP racing may be the next logical step for BMW, says Hendrik von Kuenheim, general director of BMW Motorrad. Von Kuenheim was speaking at a press launch for the BMW C600 Sport and C650GT scooters but took a moment to discuss racing with MotoGP.com. Such speculation about BMW entering Grand Prix racing may sometimes be dismissed as idle musings, but the fact the interview was with MotoGP’s official website holds some significance.
