2022 BMW R18B (And R18 Transcontinental) Review - First Ride

Wed, 01 Sep 2021

Fast Facts Drivetrain unchanged from original R18 Self-leveling rear ride height Adaptive cruise control Amazing TFT screen Phone-based navigation Tank holds 6.3 gallons for 304 mile calculated range MSRP $22,590 (base) Riding 1,475 miles to see if the BMW R18B has the bagger chops to ease into this competitive market Credit: Photos by Kevin Wing As I pull the 2022 BMW R18B out of the underground parking of the hotel where BMW had hosted its new model introduction, I wonder if a 7:30 departure still qualifies as my crack-of-dawn goal. Still, I settle into an easy rhythm of following the mechanical voice instructions paired with their informative visual counterparts on the massive TFT screen.

BMW has officially recalled the 2014 R1200RT in the U.S., after the company released a worldwide warning to customers about a potential defect with the rear suspension system. The problem was first discovered April 1 after a warranty claim was filed in France.
