BMW R-Series description

This bike was purchased as a father son restoration project. We got most of the way through it but it has a few more hours to complete the job. My son moved off to college and I moved to the beach so it's time to move it on to someone else to enjoy. New Metzler tires, new brake master cylinder, front brake line, pads and rebuilt caliper. New electronic ignition module. New starter relay, new battery new filters oil, air etc and new petcock filters (very hard to find). Carburetors fully rebuilt. It needs new rubber front fork boots and rubber speedo cowl. The machine is mechanically sound, it runs well rides smooth and gears change easily. We bought the bike from the original owner in Arkansas and he had it maintained by BMW shop and by himself until the past few years where it sat in his garage and that's when we got it. Located south of Houston on Galveston Island so come to the beach and take a look and take it home. If you're buying it and need it shipped that will be your responsibility. I will give access to your transporter to pick it up.

European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.

2011-2013 BMW F800GS and F700GS Recalled in Canada

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

Transport Canada announced a recall for the 2011-2013 BMW F800GS and the 2013 F700GS because of a problem with the kickstand ignition cut-off switch. The switch is designed to turn off the engine when the stand is down and the motorcycle is shifted into gear; this prevents the motorcycle from being ridden with the kickstand deployed. On certain BMW F800GS and F700GS models however, the cut-off switch can loosen and become damaged.
