BMW R-Series description
Here is a chance to own a beautiful, very dependable and comfortably
ride-able piece BMW history for substantially less than purchasing a project bike
and doing all the work, or paying to have it done.
This vintage motorbike has triple-matching numbers, with all necessary ownership papers and with all receipts for major work performed on engine, transmission, wheels (with stainless spokes), brake work and whatever else a prudent buyer of such a machine would concern themselves with. Starts on first kick, dead-cold and without even engaging the choke system and is a joy to ride. As you can see, it has the highly desirable, large 6.5g sport tank, a Denfeld solo seat as well as Hella Bar-End blinkers and a factory Albert mirror. Even if you happen like the smaller 4.5g tanks offered on most of these bikes better, you can probably sell this one for more than enough to buy two of those. Perfect interior lining on that tank, by the way. Complete with tire pump and full Heyco tool kit. Of course being a mid sixties /2, it came stock with the more desirable "Earles front end" and frame has stock attachment points for a side-car. While I could not secure the complete history for this amazing bike's state of originality, as for whether it's just been super well preserved or has been re-painted, I assure you that anyone who knows their stuff will instantly be able to tell that it was either "done right" or extremely well cared for and stored. The paint work looks like factory single stage and with hand striping. Other than a few extremely minor nicks here and there, from actually being ridden and enjoyed, as one should, this is basically in show condition. There are no eyesores of any kind....just "eye-candy" The track record I have from all receipts for it, tells me that the 19k mi. on its' (working) speedometer are original miles and that it has not been ridden for more than 3k miles over the last 21 years or so. The engine (including Crankshaft, heads, etc), transmission and drive-shaft have been completely rebuilt at the 16k mile mark, and that is just naming the major components. New pistons, rings, valves, springs, bearings, rebuilt shocks and most recently, a tune-up at near the 19k mile mark. After you start it, you'll hear the most quiet and smooth sounding R60/2 engine you've ever heard. No smoke at any time. Here is a "start-up" youtube post (you may have to copy and paste into browser): https://youtu.be/_7OKPrR-j3Q Naturally the mufflers and headers are in perfect condition, with zero rot or rust issues. Just normal heat-darkening at the header output bows. Wheels chrome is perfect and they are re-built with stainless spokes and nice, clean hubcaps. New brakes. Tires are period correct Metzeler, but front has some age checking and I recommend it be replaced. I may even have a spare that is in near perfect shape to include, if you're interested. The only item needing to be addressed is the swing-arm boot, which needs to be replaced (and a new one is included), as there is a drip leak from it and this job can be done inside of 1hr. if you or your mechanic are efficient. Again, no rust on any chrome. Perfect handlebars, risers, mirror, speedometer bezel, air intake tubes, head and tail-light rings, chrome ignition-key skirt. Has Magura rubber grips and throttle side will need to be traded out for an included new one. Hopefully my pictures do most of the talking over and above my description You are welcome to order an inspection by any of many qualified mechanics around my area. I'm 10 minutes outside of Portland, OREGON). In that case, please do contact me (see # below) so I can arrange my schedule to accommodate this. SHIPPING: If you'd like to have it shipped, I'll help facilitate that.....and YOU must make all shipping arrangements. If you're local enough or just a state away, it would be worth it for you to just make the trek, so you can take it for a very satisfying test spin in person and trailer (or ride) it away yourself---weather permitting. Test rides only with full remaining balance in hand.....my hand :) You will not be disappointed! Please feel free to contact me for any questions ******************AT: 5O3nine98three78six******************* PAYMENT: A $500 deposit is required within 24hrs of auction's end The balance is to be paid by Bank Cashier's check or Postal Money Order. Cash is welcome, of course if you plan on local pick-up. |

Harley's DEI Climbdown Isn't the Woke-ism Defeat You Think it Is
Wed, 21 Aug 2024You may have seen this week that Harley-Davidson has decided to shelve its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Ostensibly, this action came as a result of criticism the company received from right-wing activists - certainly that's the way it's being reported in most media outlets. The thing is, I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

Charge Up you iPhone While You Ride
Fri, 12 Feb 2010Motorcyclists can now enjoy total freedom on the open road confident in the knowledge that their cell phones, GPS, MP3 players and latest generation of iPhone/iTouch devices will remain fully-charged and in-service for the duration of the ride thanks to Powerlet’s plug and play systems. “Our product line was inspired by personal experience and the realization that there were no worthwhile options for clean, reliable on-board power for cell phones, stereos and GPS devices,” says Powerlet Products founder Adam Bonislawaski. “Before we came on to the scene, riders would bust out the black tape and wire strippers and cut into their bike’s fragile wiring to tie-in a cheap cigar lighter to power their devices.
