Offered for sale is this very complete and original 1955 BMW R50 twin, ready for restoration. The early Earles fork bikes are a very special blend of the R51, R67 & R68 bikes that came before them, along with the more robust frame and fork that went with the new styling. This is a matching engine/frame/frame ID tag bike with matching title, ready to transfer into the new owners name. This bike has virtually all the unique 1st year/early features that make it so special: · * One year only aluminum rims and hubs with early style bearing retainers · * Early rear fender with small tail light holes · * Original Eber small tail light * O* Early front fender with no center brace · * Early plunger-style Knecht air filter · * Small battery tray · * 32/11 rear drive in un-vented case · * Small headlight brackets · * Dished headlight with early speedo In addition, the original solo seat "T" bar bracket and rear fender rack are there. The original early Bing carbs are there, along with the early style front shocks with rounded edges. The trans was opened for inspection and found to be in excellent condition inside. There are no reproduction parts on this bike. I had planned to restore this bike and mount an R68 style ISDT exhaust on it, but those plans have changed. Please ask all questions before bidding, and have your finances lined up too. Payment is expected with 7 days of auction end, and the bike should be picked up/shipped within one month of auction end (negotiable - but let me know what you have in mind before bidding). Overseas sales are welcome, but I cannot help with shipping quotes. Personal checks are fine, but this will delay pickup/shipment. Well, it sure didn’t take the Northern Irishman long to accomplish that goal, winning the very first race of the 2014 season at Australia’s Phillip Island course. The win was Laverty’s third in a row, including the final two races of the 2013 season when he raced for Aprilia.
BMW Unveils E-Scooter Concept

The BMW E-Scooter was developed with funding form Germany’s Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development.The E-Scooter was created with two goals in mind: to offer performance comparable to a 600cc combustion engine-powered maxi-scooter and to offer sufficient range for an urban commuter. BMW wanted the E-Scooter to provide enough power and speed for freeway passing and climbing steep slopes even with a pillion passenger.
Michelin Unveils New Tire for Dual Sport Motorcycles
Wed, 06 Feb 2013More than half of the new BMW R 1200 GSs that roll off the assembly line in 2013 will be fitted with Michelin’s new big trail tire, the Anakee III. BMW and Michelin worked together to co-develop the dual-sport tire, which is designed to deliver all the safety and off road capability big trail motorcycle users demand. The Anakee III will also be available as a replacement option for other leading dual sport bikes, like the Suzuki V-Strom, Kawasaki KLR, Triumph Tiger and Yamaha Super Tenere.
