BMW Other description

2013 BMW S 1000 Rr, 2013 BMW S 1000 RR. When we build a superbike, we have no time for second best. We now present the very latest in racing power. With an aluminum bridge, radial brakes, a super sporty tail-up nose-down design, hot colors and the ultimate combination of electronic rider assistance systems: The first Race ABS, including features such as four modes, two for the road and two others - Race and Slick - for sportier riding on the race track, a banking rotation speed, gear-related Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) which allows slip. Never before was it so easy to keep so much power under control. This is just as true on public roads as it is down on the racetrack. The RR label shows that it is a full-blooded racing bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. To top it all off is an engine which is our absolute pride and joy. And our worldwide motorsports teams agree wholeheartedly.

BMW Introduces Dynamic Damping Control Suspension System

Mon, 04 Jul 2011

BMW has developed new suspension technology that automatically adjusts damping for different riding conditions. The Dynamic Damping Control is the next evolutionary step in BMW‘s suspension technology, following its Electronic Suspension Adjustment systems (ESA and ESA II). While ESA allowed the rider to adjust suspension settings with the push of a button, DDC automatically makes adjustments as you ride.

WE'VE SEEN videos of BMW's stunning new S1000RR pulling wheelies, stunting, sliding, racing a 700bhp Corvette, featured in a music video - we've even had a look inside the engine and now the company are using the 190bhp superbike as part of a new-style drag act - but not the Danny La Rue type. Real or not, the clip makes for amusing viewing.  Have a look.

IIHS Asks NHTSA to Make ABS Brakes Mandatory for All Street-legal Motorcycles in US

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute have submitted a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration petitioning in favor of making anti-lock brakes mandatory for all new on-highway motorcycles. The letter, addressed to David Strickland, NHTSA administrator, included a recent IIHS study on the effects of ABS on motorcycle fatal crash rates. The report found ABS technology reduces the rate of fatal crashes by 31%, while collision claim rates were 20% lower with ABS-equipped motorcycles.
