The new BMW R 1200 R models deliver greater power and acceleration at the top rpm range, whereas the boxer in the predecessor model had already provided superior acceleration under all conditions. Derived from the BMW HP2 Sport, the new boxer with 1,170 cubic centimeters and DOHC valve gear, is the same as the engines in the BMW R 1200 GS and BMW R 1200 RT.
