BMW's R1200RT has been setting the standard for touring motorcycles for many years, featuring high-performance, luxury, and ultimate rider and passenger comfort. The R1200RT is powered by BMW's reliable and smooth-running Boxer twin-cylinder for minimal engine vibration. The 1170cc air and oil-cooled engine produces 110 bhp and 85 ft-lbs. of torque for hours and hours of effortless highway cruising. A six-speed gearbox and an enclosed shaft drive transfer power to the rear wheel. BMW's Telelever front suspension system and the fully adjustable rear Paralever single-sided swing arm suspension system provide excellent handling and stability. The dual-disc front brakes and single-disc EVO brakes are controlled by BMW's Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), which is standard equipment. BMW released its year-end 2012 financial report, reporting revenues of 1.49 billion euros (US$1.93 billion) from its motorcycle business in 2012, up from 1.44 billion euros in 2011. The increased revenues came in a record year for BMW with the company selling an all-time record of 106,358 motorcycles in 2012. Despite the increase in sales revenue, BMW reported a much smaller profit from its motorcycle business, earning 9 million euros (US$11.6 million) in 2012, compared to 45 million euros in 2011.
