2008 Bmw R 1200 GS, BMW Vario Side Cases, BMW Vario Top Case - Feasts on pavement. Chews dirt. Demands seconds. Twisties? Touring? Gravel roads? It hardly matters because to the R 1200 GS, the most versatile machine in the 2008 GS lineup. This year, a five-percent increase in power raises its output to 105 ponies for even quicker acceleration. Handling is agile and precise thanks to a Telelever suspension system, and with Enduro ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) you can adjust both front and rear suspensions between sport, normal, comfort, and off-road settings. The 2008 R 1200 GS also gets a few sporty new features that make it even more eye-catching, including stainless steel knee covers on each side of the gas tank, dynamic cylinder covers, as well as an ergonomic aluminum handlebar and a more comfortable seat. The result? A bike that thrashes every road you throw at it and begs for more.

EICMA 2012: BMW F800GT Announced as Replacement for F800ST
Tue, 13 Nov 2012As we reported in August, BMW is replacing its F800ST sport tourer with a new, more touring-oriented version called the F800GT. Revealed at the 2012 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, the 2013 BMW F800ST is equipped with a 798cc parallel Twin engine claiming 88 hp at 8000rpm, an increase from the BMW F800ST’s claim of 84 hp at 8000rpm (the 2012 F700GS and F800GS also claims 84hp from a similar engine.) Other changes include better wind protection, lighter wheels, new higher-mounted handlebars, repositioned footrests, and load capacity increased to 456 pounds from 432 pounds. Like all current BMW motorcycles, the F800GT comes standard with ABS.

Yamaha Joins the Automated Manual Transmission Club
Tue, 25 Jun 2024Expect Y-AMT on the MT-09 and other sporty streetbikes Yamaha announced a new automatic transmission system, joining the list of manufacturers introducing some form of electronic gear shifting technology following Honda, BMW, and KTM. The Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) system allows for quick shifting without the need for a manual clutch lever, with Yamaha claiming more consistently faster and precise shifting than the latest quickshifters currently available. Y-AMT isn’t Yamaha’s first foray into automatic shifting.
