2004 BMW R 1150 RT, A Great Bavarian Oilhead!The R1150RT is one of the most relaxing motorcycles to ride, which is really what being a good tourer is all about. Its Boxer opposed flat twin is torquey at low revs and produces modest power higher up on the tachometer. The torquey motor means leisurely gear changes, the neutral chassis makes for confident, easy handling and the fairing is absolutely superb. When you find yourself in light rain or cold weather you really feel protected from the elements. With just under 24K miles, this R1150RT is barely broken-in. A set of PIAA lamps and flashing LED brake lights add to this RT's visibility. There are a few very minor cosmetic flaws, primarily boot scuffs on the seats and bags, but otherwise this is a very clean bike. These bikes are made for high mileage riders who think nothing of a 500 mile round trip for lunch. BMW Sets New Annual Record for Motorcycle Sales – With One Month Still to Go
Mon, 09 Dec 2013BMW announced sales of 108,872 motorcycles and scooters, shattering last year’s company record for annual sales by 2.4%. Even more impressively, BMW reached that mark by the end of November and still has a whole month’s worth of sales to pad its record. In 2012, BMW sold 106,358 motorcycles and scooters to set a new company record.
BMW Recalls 4,453 Motorcycles and Scooters for Side Stand Switch Problem
Thu, 13 Mar 2014BMW has initiated a recall on several motorcycle and scooter models because of a problem with the side stand switches failing in wet conditions. The recall affects 4,453 vehicles from the 2013 model year including the C600 Sport and C650GT scooters, F700GS, F800GS, F800GS Adventure, F800GT, R1200R and R1200GS. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, water may enter the side stand switch on affected vehicles from riding in wet conditions or even from vigorous washing.
Bonhams To Auction Bruce Smith Collection Of Original Illustrations
Fri, 11 Oct 2013On October 20, Bonhams will be auctioning off a collection of original illustrations by Bruce Smith from the 1960s and 1970s. Each one will be signed by Smith on heavy cartridge paper. The collection is comprised of cutaway illustrations of a 1963 Royal Enfield Interceptor 750cc, Chris Vincent’s 1964 BSA 650cc A65 Race Outfit, and a 1966 Greeves Racer, the largest of this series being 45cm x 62cm.
