Vehicle Overview:
When luxury is freed of constraint, it moves to a new level. At the very top of this evolution is the K 1600 GTL – a high-class touring bike like none before it. With the most compact and efficient in-line 6-cylinder engine ever installed in a series production motorcycle.

The ergonomics of the K 1600 GTL are designed for long trips and leave nothing to be desired for rider or passenger in terms of comfort. The slim design in the area of the rider's seat and the fact that the handlebars reach far back allows a relaxed seating position - for hours and over hundreds of miles. The passenger enjoys a sizable seating area and a comfortable backrest.

Available for the first time in a motorcycle: the adaptive headlight (special equipment feature) - a revolution which matches the visionary front section of the K 1600 GTL and provides the very highest level of active safety.

The GTL makes luxury easy. This is because its unique chassis provides excellent handling. With a direct ride feel due to the ground-breaking Duolever front suspension. At the rear, it is the Paralever that put's the power of the engine onto the road, The optional ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) ensures that the GTL always glides smoothly since the systems allows the damping and suspension to be adapted according to situation and preference at the press of a button.

Every detail is designed for maximum riding pleasure. A motorcycle for people who are looking for a new kind of supremacy.

BMW Design Chief David Robb Steps Down; Edgar Heinrich Named Successor

Mon, 30 Jan 2012

David Robb, the man responsible for BMW‘s split-face motorcycle design, has left the German manufacturer. A native of Boston, Mass., Robb joined BMW as its design chief in 1993, and over the ensuing 18 years expanded the company’s product line to include the top selling R1200GS, the six-cylinder K1600GT and GTL, and the S1000RR superbike (that’s him on the far right in the picture above). The 56-year-old’s latest design to enter production are the C600 Sport and C650GT maxi-scooters.

WSBK: 2012 Magny-Cours Results – Championship Decided by Half a Point

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

You would think carrying a 30.5 point lead into the final round of the 2012 World Superbike Championship would be a safe enough margin to win the title. Aprilia‘s Max Biaggi made it interesting, inexplicably crashing out of the first race at the finale in Magny-C0urs before scoring a fifth place finish in Race Two to give him a 0.5 point margin over Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes to win the title. The 358 to 357.5 point difference is the narrowest finish ever in WSBK.

EICMA 2013: 2014 BMW nineT First Impressions – Video

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

We were one of two US motorcycle publications to attend the unveiling of the 2014 BMW nineT in Munich a few weeks ago. The unique roadster was designed to both embody and celebrate the 90 years of BMW motorcycles by emphasizing the archetypical form of BMW’s qualities. Now, as part of the EICMA 2013 show, the rest of the world media and the public who are lucky enough to be in Milan get a chance to throw a leg over one.
