When luxury is freed of constraint, it moves to a new level. At the very top of this evolution is the K 1600 GTL -- a high-class touring bike like none before it. With the most compact and efficient in-line 6-cylinder engine ever installed in a series production motorcycle. The ergonomics of the K 1600 GTL are designed for long trips and leave nothing to be desired for rider or passenger in terms of comfort. The slim design in the area of the rider's seat and the fact that the handlebars reach far back allows a relaxed seating position - for hours and over hundreds of miles. The passenger enjoys a sizable seating area and a comfortable backrest. The adaptive headlight is a revolution that matches the visionary front section of the K 1600 GTL and provides the very highest level of active safety. The GTL makes luxury easy. This is because its unique chassis provides excellent handling. With a direct ride feel due to the ground-breaking Duolever front suspension. At the rear, it is the Paralever that put's the power of the engine onto the road, The optional ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) ensures that the GTL always glides smoothly since the systems allows the damping and suspension to be adapted according to situation and preference at the press of a button. The GTL now also comes with standard ABS Pro, BMW's cornering-optimized ABS. Every detail is designed for maximum riding pleasure. A motorcycle for people who are looking for a new kind of supremacy.

2016 Midual Type 1 Prototype Revealed

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Most motorcycle enthusiasts are probably unfamiliar with the Midual brand. Originally formed in 1992 by entrepreneur Olivier Midy, Midual was an obscure French brand best known for introducing a 875cc roadster concept in 1999. What made the concept noteworthy was the company’s decision to use a transversely-mounted flat-twin engine.

BMW Motorrad has shown what can be built around the in-line "two" from the middle "goose" F850GS

Tue, 26 Jun 2018

The 9Cento is a sports tourer with crossover features, and its appearance evokes associations of Italian design. So, for example, the short sportbike “tail” unobtrusively resembles the upturned, stunningly beautiful stern of Ducati Panigale sportbikes. The motorcycle is built on the basis of an in-line two-cylinder engine from the BMW F850GS, and we would not completely rule out the possibility of such a handsome man appearing in the production program.

EICMA 2013: 2014 BMW R1200RT Revealed

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

We confess, the BMW R1200RT was a glaring omission from our list of top 10 motorcycles to watch at EICMA. There are so many new bikes coming out at the 2013 EICMA show, it was hard enough to narrow it down to just 10, but that doesn’t excuse us forgetting BMW is adding another model powered by the new R1200GS‘ liquid-cooled boxer engine. Follow the rest of our 2013 EICMA show coverage The peak numbers for the R1200RT are the same as with the GS, with BMW claiming 125 hp at 7700 rpm and 92.2 ft-lb at 6500 rpm.
