Charley Boorman’s BMW R1200 GS Adventure Stolen – and Recovered

Adventure touring documentary star Charley Boorman and his BMW R1200GS Adventure have traveled a long way together, but the motorcycle had a bit of an adventure on its own after thieves stole the bike. The stolen BMW wasn’t the one Boorman rode with Ewen McGregor in “Long Way Round” (that was a R1150GS Adventure) or the one used in the sequel “Long Way Down“. Boorman did ride it on his last project, “Charley Boorman’s Extreme Frontiers: Canada”.

EICMA 2013: 2014 BMW R1200RT First Impressions Video

The R1200RT has gone liquid cooled, inheriting the new boxer engine with BMW’s “precision cooling” technology from the new R1200GS. But that’s not all that’s changed on the RT as Editor-in-Chief Kevin Duke points out in the video below from the 2013 EICMA show floor. EICMA 2008: First Impressions

I have had a little walk around checking out the preparations for the show. I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.
