BMW K-Series description

Behold the awesome BMW K1200GT.  I bought it with 9,000 miles, and have taken great care of it while I put 40,000 miles on it in the last 6 years.  I am downsizing, and this has to go too.  My loss is your gain.  Services done last fall at New Century BMW in Alhambra, CA including new tires which are 80 - 90%.  Comes with keyed silver/black matching factory hard bags, a tank bag, a black top case (not the huge one but the medium one).  Everything works great, the bike is awesome, you won't be disappointed.  The bike was $20,000 new, and still rides amazing.  Power windscreen, heated grips, heated seat (rider and passenger), ABS, linked brakes, traction control, ESA, electronic programmable suspension, etc etc.  If you want to know something please ask.  I will include my Garmin GPS, which it has the assembly for (but not 100% sure it works;  it is 6 years old).

This model was introduced in 2006.  Many believe the 2007 version like this solved some of the early teething pains of the 2006 (transmission, etc.).

I will post photos of it with the bags shortly.

This is a very powerful motorcycle.  It is amazing to ride.  It was named best sport tourer by CycleWorld in 2007 (find on Google Search).  New York Times also raved about it.  CycleWorld named it one of the best used bikes in 2012.

The only issues that I know of:  The factory seat has some wrinkling from age and should be re-upholstered (minor job) or replaced.  The tire pressure monitoring no longer works, but is an easy fix (the batteries on the sensors inside the wheels are out;  need new sensors) which I wouldn't bother doing.

Also for sale locally so if you want it do BuyItNow (unless it already has a bid, in which case that option goes away).

Bike is near Pasadena, CA.

EICMA 2013: 2014 BMW R1200RT Revealed

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

We confess, the BMW R1200RT was a glaring omission from our list of top 10 motorcycles to watch at EICMA. There are so many new bikes coming out at the 2013 EICMA show, it was hard enough to narrow it down to just 10, but that doesn’t excuse us forgetting BMW is adding another model powered by the new R1200GS‘ liquid-cooled boxer engine. Follow the rest of our 2013 EICMA show coverage The peak numbers for the R1200RT are the same as with the GS, with BMW claiming 125 hp at 7700 rpm and 92.2 ft-lb at 6500 rpm.

Calling all BMW S1000RR owners ...

Mon, 02 Aug 2010

BMW has announced the HP Race Cover Kit for the company's highly-acclaimed S1000RR superbike. The kit aimed at trackday goers, replaces parts removed by owners prior to taking their bike out on track. Covers for the numberplate hanger, mirrors and indicators – all of which have been designed to facilitate simple and easy removal - neatly fill any gaps left by the removed parts.

Fake motorcycle police. Why?

Tue, 17 Jan 2012

People who like to pretend they're police baffle me and annoy me in equal measure. I took this picture the other day at Cobham, about to join the A3 heading to Guildford. I guessed that the guy on the left had just bought his rather fetching BMW off the guy on the right.
