2022 BMW K1600 GT Christmas Chiseler Tour

Fri, 13 Jan 2023

Its not easy being a cheapskate on a $25,000 motorcycle Chrissy Rogers and I were toying with the idea of a pre-Christmas blast up the Pacific coast to Hearst Castle for a few days while business was slow, since the weather was an impeccable partly cloudy and 60-ish degrees. European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of new rules that would increase emission standards and make anti-lock braking systems mandatory for all new large motorcycles, scooters and trikes and quads by 2016. The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.

BMW Reports Q2 2013 Results – 15.5% Increase Produces Record Quarter

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

BMW reported a record second quarter with sales of 40,209 motorcycles for the three months ended June 30, 2013. The quarter saw a year-on-year increase of 15.5% from sales of 34,816 motorcycles reported in 2012. For the year to date, BMW has sold 64,941 motorcycles, also a record for first half sales in the company’s 90 years in the motorcycle business (those numbers however do include 1,110 Husqvarna motorcycles sold in the first quarter before the brand was acquired by Pierer Industries.) The record half comes in the face of a worldwide decline of 7.1% for motorcycles 500cc and larger over the first six months.
