BMW K-Series description

This BMW bike is used but NOT abused. Recent new parts include a new battery, spark plugs and new fresh fluids. This bike has a K&N air filter which was cleaned and re-oiled recently. Also performed was a thorough cleaning of all leather/vinyl items as well as a fresh coat of wax on the fairings. So that you may receive the most accurate description of this bike's condition I have detailed each items condition as seen below:

  • Taillight- Excellent, no cracks
  • Turn Signals- All excellent except for front right which has been pushed in due to a minor tip over.
  • License Plate Bracket- Excellent
  • Dash & Gauges- Dash is very good. Plastic covers on gauges are cracked.
  • Electrical- Everything works as designed to the best of my knowledge. (Radio is missing)
  • Glass & Mirrors- Windshield is solid but appears to have been modified. Mirrors have scuff marks on the housings and the glass has been sealed around the edges with silicone.
  • Handlebar & Controls- Somewhat faded and weathered but everything works great.
  • Wheels- Could use a cleaning but are in excellent condition
  • Front Tire- Excellent
  • Rear Tire- Excellent
  • Front Brakes- Good
  • Rear Brakes- some squeaking
  • Steering- straight and smooth
  • Front Suspension- Excellent
  • Rear Suspension- very good
  • Fuel System- Works as designed
  • Exhaust- Solid with no leaks
  • Leaks- Some oil seepage appears to be coming from the oil pan gasket area
  • Drive Train- works as designed
TEST DRIVE RESULTS

This bike runs, rides and shifts well.

COSMETIC CONDITION

The front right half of the bike appears to have suffered a tip over incident. The upper right fairing, mirror and windshield seemed to have received the brunt of it. Please see photos for detailed views. Other than that the bike will need minor painting or rust proofing. The seat also has some minor wear.

Tue, 05 Oct 2021

Euro 5 updates and more for six-cylinder K bikes The R18 Transcontinental and R18 Bagger have been getting a lot of attention lately, as BMW‘s foray into large-displacement cruiser touring segment. Getting somewhat lost, however, are BMW’s existing K1600 range, which used to be the company’s representatives in the touring category. While still part of BMW’s lineup, the six-cylinder models have not been updated since the 2017 model year, not even receiving any changes to meet Euro 5 standards that came into effect last year.
