BMW R-Series description

- This auction is for a BMW r-series motorcycle.

- This "hot rod" toaster was fitted with a newer series frame and a yet newer series R100RS engine. Because of this, the miles indicated do not reflect the actual on the bike. Actual miles unknown.

- It has been well maintained over the years but recent parts replaced include: battery, battery straps, points, spark plugs, oil and filter, carb to head hoses and air filters.

- Mods include:

       - Custom one-off fiberglass saddle bags.

       - Corbin Gunfighter seat

       - Custom mufflers welded and chrome plated to accommodate the saddle bags

       - Lester Wheels

       - Flanders Handlebars

        - Removal of air cleaner box and replacement with individual air cleaners

       - Removal of starter cover and replacement with fiberglass cover to sweep back over transmission

       - Bar end mirrors

       - Also comes with a custom two-up seat and full fairing if touring is your preference.

It has been painted BMW 2002 Fjord Blue. The fenders and tank paint are in great shape but the saddle bags have a few garage dings on them and would need to be repainted to bring back to perfect condition. The tank and side covers chrome and polish are perfect.

Enjoy the back roads on the naked bike or put the saddle bags on for running around town and back and forth to work ( that is how I usually ride it) If you feel like hitting the open road for some touring; put the two-up seat and fairing on. It is fun and comfortable in any configuration.

Please note: When I have used the word custom it means the previous owner fabricated the part and it is just beautiful. Ask all the questions you have and I will do my best to answer them or feel free to call me. I will email additional pics upon request. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

Adventure Riding in the American West – A Photobook

Thu, 09 May 2024

Photobook “Adventure Riding in the American West” is live on Kickstarter! Olivier de Vaulx, a long-time collaborator with our friends over at Upshift Magazine as well as many other international publications, has launched a project of his own on Kickstarter this week: A 200-page photo book that compiles 10 years of riding in the most remote places of the West. Cutting no corners, as Olivier says, this book will be a 9 x 12 inch hardcover, printed on archival-quality paper.

BMW Maintains Sales Momentum into 2014

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

After three straight years of record motorcycle sales, you’d think things would eventually start slowing down for BMW. Instead, the German manufacturer continues to roll on the throttle with an impressive start to 2014. BMW announced sales of 5,438 motorcycles and scooters in January, up from the 4,818 motorcycles sold in the same month in 2013.

2015 BMW S1000XR Spied – Inline-Four Multistrada Rival on the Way

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

Spy photographers have captured a new BMW adventure-tourer powered by the S1000RR’s Inline-Four engine. The new model, which we expect will be called the 2015 BMW S1000XR, will be more road-oriented than the company’s bread-and-butter GS line, offering a competitor to the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 or the recently reviewed Aprilia Caponord 1200. Other publications that have published the spy photos (Insella.it and MotorcyclistOnline for example) have put forward names such as S1000F or S1000 ADV for the new model, but a trademark application BMW filed with the USPTO suggests it may be introduced as the “S1000XR”.
