My very clean 1978 BMW R80/7 w/ 42,200k miles, all completely stock except for hand grips, carbon brake lines. European handlebars, luggage tailpiece and hard side bags in good shape. Very dependable, smooth, easy starting. Tank has scrape on left side from a tipover in my garage when it hit another bike's handlebar. Not a show bike, but original paint and nice looking. Some bolts oxidizing, but otherwise quite nice. Some wear on the seat sides but otherwise intact (see pict) Relatively new front tire and battery (changed in last 6 months). 2013 BMW R1200RT with hard to find low suspension. 2013 was the best and last year of the good ones! 12,500 adult ridden miles, bike has never been dropped or down. Bike currently has standard BMW 2 piece seats, original low one piece seat included with sale. Bike is in excellent condition, only flaws are a couple of boot scuffs on the saddlebags. Bike has Clearwater lights and Illium engine guard/highway pegs. Major service done in spring 2016 and last oil change was at 10,400 miles. Bike has Michelin PR4 tires in very good shape, I would say 60-70% tread left. Bike has a transferable unlimited mile warranty through 7/1/2022. As with most low suspension bikes it does not have audio. Bike is currently on a battery tender with fuel stabilized for winter. Included with sale are BMW bag liners and BMW Tank Bag. The 2014 models were first revealed last weekend’s BMW Motorrad Days celebration but we now have full details on the updates. The new 2014 BMW K1600GT Sport is based on the existing K1600GT but adds a special Sakhir Orange/Black Storm Metallic paint job, black gloss-coated wheels, a shorter windscreen and a sportier seat design.

Wed, 19 Jun 2013Transport Canada announced a recall for the 2011-2013 BMW F800GS and the 2013 F700GS because of a problem with the kickstand ignition cut-off switch. The switch is designed to turn off the engine when the stand is down and the motorcycle is shifted into gear; this prevents the motorcycle from being ridden with the kickstand deployed. On certain BMW F800GS and F700GS models however, the cut-off switch can loosen and become damaged.

Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).
IIHS Asks NHTSA to Make ABS Brakes Mandatory for All Street-legal Motorcycles in US
Fri, 07 Jun 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute have submitted a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration petitioning in favor of making anti-lock brakes mandatory for all new on-highway motorcycles. The letter, addressed to David Strickland, NHTSA administrator, included a recent IIHS study on the effects of ABS on motorcycle fatal crash rates. The report found ABS technology reduces the rate of fatal crashes by 31%, while collision claim rates were 20% lower with ABS-equipped motorcycles.

Last year, Corbin had thousands of riders show up to help celebrate our country’s birthday and take part in the festivities and expects a much bigger crowd this year, since the city has approved the Hollister Rally and the event covers two days. Mike Corbin reported that the city is feverishly working on the final details in order to make this year’s Hollister Rally one to remember.

Naked BMW S1000RR Spotted Testing in Italy – Video
Wed, 29 May 2013Italian site Motociclismo.it has published a video of what appears to be a naked version of the BMW S1000RR being tested on public roads in Rovereto, Italy. The test model was dressed in camouflage and appears to be close to being ready for production, especially compared to the earlier prototype spotted testing last summer. We expect BMW will officially unveil this S1000RR-based streetfighter at either the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, or the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, later this fall.
