BMW R-Series description

2003 BMW R Series R, I bought this bike new in 2003 - and have been the sole owner. It has always been parked in my garage and well taken care of. I just bought a new bike yesterday - so this one needs a new home. The known issues are the tires probably wouldn't pass inspection, the left fork seal will need to be replaced (I noticed it leaking). The left side rubber grip has a split in it (probably because they are heated grips, and this has dried the rubber over time). I am unaware of any other issues - and I am obviously selling this "as is" due to its age. There are obviously a few scratches and scrapes - as it is almost eleven years old - but it has never been wrecked. It did fall over in my garage about 6 years ago - but it didn't hurt it. I'm pricing it low because I know these issues will have to addressed by the next owner. I had the BMW 24 month service done 3 years ago. The bike has only been ridden for approx 2,000 miles since then. You can see by the photos, that the bike passed inspection last August. My feedback is 100% for a reason - I am honest, and try to describe anything I sell as accurately as possible. If you purchase this bike - you will have to arrange for local pick-up or shipping. This bike has been listed on other sites - so if someone else decides to purchase it, I will be removing it from auction.

BMW Standardizes Switches

Thu, 23 Oct 2008

Whenever you throw your leg over a bike that isn’t your own, there is always a few minutes needed to become familiar with the proportions and controls of the foreign machine. Getting a sense of the clutch release point, brake feel, throttle response and riding position may all differ from what you have been accustomed, but they slowly become second nature after enough seat time is logged. One such control that strays from this rule of thumb is the turn signal operation of many BMWs.

BMW Introduces Dynamic Damping Control Suspension System

Mon, 04 Jul 2011

BMW has developed new suspension technology that automatically adjusts damping for different riding conditions. The Dynamic Damping Control is the next evolutionary step in BMW‘s suspension technology, following its Electronic Suspension Adjustment systems (ESA and ESA II). While ESA allowed the rider to adjust suspension settings with the push of a button, DDC automatically makes adjustments as you ride.
