This is an excellent 1985 BMW R80. Starts and runs perfect. Smooth idle. Handles fantastically. Transmission shift smoothly through all gears. Looks amazing for the year. Tank has nice shine with beautiful original paint and hand pinstripes. Has a couple tiny dings but overall the bike looks fantastic.
I purchased this from the original owner who took meticulous care of this bike until he stopped riding in 97 and let it sit. I restore vintage BMW's and this one is just too nice to touch so I tuned and am selling as is. We did an overall inspection and tune including head torque, valve adjustment, carburetor sync, timing adjustment, filter replacement, fluid change of engine, transmission, final drive, drive shaft, and forks. Everything was inspected and functions as it should. The previous owner said he replaced the timing chain before parking it. Generally after 60K these machines make some chain clatter. This one sounds nice and tight. Comes with a clear California title in my name in non operational status so no back fees. The only thing I would recommend would be new tires. These will do fine for a while but always nice to upgrade to new. I've decided to let the buyer get tires since everyone has their own favorite type. I can help set the bike up with tires for new buyer for cost. I strongly recommend any local bidders come see it in person. I can also cold start it on the phone or video for you if you wish to hear it run. Happy to assist with shipping for out of town buyers. Bonhams To Auction Bruce Smith Collection Of Original Illustrations
Fri, 11 Oct 2013On October 20, Bonhams will be auctioning off a collection of original illustrations by Bruce Smith from the 1960s and 1970s. Each one will be signed by Smith on heavy cartridge paper. The collection is comprised of cutaway illustrations of a 1963 Royal Enfield Interceptor 750cc, Chris Vincent’s 1964 BSA 650cc A65 Race Outfit, and a 1966 Greeves Racer, the largest of this series being 45cm x 62cm.
James Toseland Announces Retirement from Racing
Fri, 09 Sep 2011Two-time World Superbike Champion James Toseland announced his immediate retirement from motorcycle racing due to a debilitating injury to his right wrist. Signed with the BMW Motor Italia racing team, Toseland has been limited to just seven of 20 races in this season’s WSBK Championship due to the wrist injury initially suffered during a private test at Spain’s Aragon circuit in March. After undergoing an operation for the injury, Toseland made two attempts at returning to racing, first at the Miller Motorsports Park round in May and again at the Silverstone round in July.

These models are coming back unchanged, except for new colors and price adjustments.
