BMW R-Series description

This is an excellent 1985 BMW R80. Starts and runs perfect. Smooth idle. Handles fantastically. Transmission shift smoothly through all gears. Looks amazing for the year. Tank has nice shine with beautiful original paint and hand pinstripes. Has a couple tiny dings but overall the bike looks fantastic.

I purchased this from the original owner who took meticulous care of this bike until he stopped riding in 97 and let it sit. I restore vintage BMW's and this one is just too nice to touch so I tuned and am selling as is.

We did an overall inspection and tune including head torque, valve adjustment, carburetor sync, timing adjustment, filter replacement, fluid change of engine, transmission, final drive, drive shaft, and forks. Everything was inspected and functions as it should.

The previous owner said he replaced the timing chain before parking it. Generally after 60K these machines make some chain clatter. This one sounds nice and tight.

Comes with a clear California title in my name in non operational status so no back fees.

The only thing I would recommend would be new tires. These will do fine for a while but always nice to upgrade to new. I've decided to let the buyer get tires since everyone has their own favorite type. I can help set the bike up with tires for new buyer for cost.

I strongly recommend any local bidders come see it in person.

I can also cold start it on the phone or video for you if you wish to hear it run.

Happy to assist with shipping for out of town buyers. I've shipped quite a few so I can help steer you though the process.

WSBK 2013: Portimao Race Report

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty split a pair of victories at Portugal’s Portimao circuit while Sylvain Guintoli took advantage of some misfortune to his championship rivals to increase his lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings. Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).

2015 BMW S1000XR Spied – Inline-Four Multistrada Rival on the Way

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

Spy photographers have captured a new BMW adventure-tourer powered by the S1000RR’s Inline-Four engine. The new model, which we expect will be called the 2015 BMW S1000XR, will be more road-oriented than the company’s bread-and-butter GS line, offering a competitor to the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 or the recently reviewed Aprilia Caponord 1200. Other publications that have published the spy photos (Insella.it and MotorcyclistOnline for example) have put forward names such as S1000F or S1000 ADV for the new model, but a trademark application BMW filed with the USPTO suggests it may be introduced as the “S1000XR”.

Used Review: Clover GT3 jacket

Fri, 01 Aug 2008

I’ve been wearing this waterproof textile jacket since March and it’s performed very well. The silver colour shows up dirt something rotten, there’s a stark lack of useful pockets and the cut is quite square, but as a jacket to keep the cold and water out it’s been right up to the job. It’s my daily commuting top, one of those jackets you throw on without thinking about it, and now that it’s summer I can’t see the point in getting a replacement anytime soon.
