BMW R-Series description

This bike was given to me by my brother in-law after he was no longer able to ride it after a back injury. It is in good condition but needs some TLC. Complete restore was done in the early 2000's by a previous owner, clean title, 49,700, miles. Has been sitting for a few years so the carburetors got gummed up and have recently been rebuilt. RUNS but needs the dual carbs to be tuned. No body damage. There is a scratch on the front fender and a cracked blinker lens. The tires have dry rot and there is no battery. We can start it with a battery charger so you can see/hear it run but like I said, the dual carbs need to be tuned. It kind of sputters a bit. Other than these small issues it is in great condition. Potential cafĂ© racer?

Local buyers may be able to have this delivered if within reasonable distance.

Signed with the BMW Motor Italia racing team, Toseland has been limited to just seven of 20 races in this season’s WSBK Championship due to the wrist injury initially suffered during a private test at Spain’s Aragon circuit in March. After undergoing an operation for the injury, Toseland made two attempts at returning to racing, first at the Miller Motorsports Park round in May and again at the Silverstone round in July.

BMW Bounces Back with Record August Sales

Thu, 06 Sep 2012

When BMW released its second quarter report last month, the company reported a 4.2% decrease in BMW and Husqvarna motorcycle sales due mainly to a struggling European economy. The economic woes persist but BMW appears to be recovering, reporting a new sales record for the month of August. BMW reports sales of 7,400 motorcycles and scooters in August 2012, a company record for the month and an 11.3% increase from the 6,646 units sold in August 2011 and 14.7% more than the 6,405 units sold in August 2010.
