BMW R-Series description

  • 1972 BMW R60/5 "Toaster Tank", Black, 31,000 miles. This is a nice running, unrestored R60/5 (with the exception of new paint on the tank). The bike has no major maintenance issues and has always been stored inside. I am the fourth owner of the bike, having purchased it about 4 years ago. It's a great candidate for a full restoration, but definitely could be used as a daily rider. I ride it on average maybe a half a dozen times per month during the season, and it's always been reliable. I do keep a battery tender on it when not in use. Please email with any questions, I'd be glad to share all I can. I also have additional photos I can send.

We knew it wouldn’t be the first, though, after we broke the news that BMW had trademarked the name along with “M 1000 XR” and “M 1300 GS.” What we didn’t expect was for the next M-branded motorcycle to be based on the S 1000 R. That now looks to be the case, as a new M 1000 R model has appeared in vehicle certification documents in Switzerland and Germany.
