Bike has been sitting in my friends neighbors garage for 25 years.The motor does not turn so I filled the cylinders with marvel mystery oil and crc on  monday 9/9/13 when I got it home.Bike needs a restoration.Trans clicks through all the gears.Carbs are 1/26/9 and 1/26/10 which check out to be correct for the R69.The carbs and gas tank were drained before it sat so they are decent.Bike is sold as is.This is how I got it.It is fairly complete.The photos tell the story.Only 2956 units of this sport model were made making it one of the rarest post war BMW,s ever produced.It is the most powerful BMW made at the time with a high compression 600cc engine.It was the platform and basis for the R69S which came out a few years later and is also considered quite desirable.

The BMW R 69 VIN 653601 was manufactured on January 20th, 1958 and delivered on May 24th, 1958 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat.

John Penton rode a BMW R69 to break the transcontinental record from New York City on june 8,1959 to Los Angeles in 52 hours 11 minutes 1 second.He stopped for a 45 minute nap along the way on his stock black bike which had a borrowed larger gas tank from his brother's white R69.
