BMW R-Series description
The good:
I've got a beautiful rare 1959 R26 BMW up for sale that's all original (all matching) with a fresh top end rebuild on a 250cc motor and trans rebuild ($3,500 worth of work completed by Scottie's Workshop in Santa Clara, Ca.) Bunch of upgrades too like new handle bars, single side mirror, new exhaust pipe, points/plug, fluids, black and yellow plate that reads "1959 BMW", lots of receipts, manual, everything works, and clear title in hand. The bike gets tons of thumbs up from all kinds of riders and is a great foreground for any photo op. Every time I pull over to get off the bike it gets a lot of attention and cool conversations ensue. I've only put about 50 miles on the bike since all the work. I'm looking to sell off a few things because I'm getting into another passion of Porsche collecting and need the room. This is a fantastic display piece, a sweet ride to get attention on and take some cool photos of! The minor issues: The only thing it needs replaced is a small condenser in the coil (about a $12 part) that I believe needs a little soldering and an oil cover gasket (maybe $4 bucks for that.) It runs fine, but when warmed up a bit it loses a little power due to that condenser, but both are really easy fixes. The tank and back fender were chipped in small areas, but the previous owner touched it up and only adds to the charm of this beauty. This is a 57 year old bike! A great piece to hold onto and appreciate in value. I'll need a deposit of $500 within 24 hours of winning bid. Will consider offers and may end auction if price is right. Sale is final. I would not, could not, ride a BMW C1
Tue, 29 Jun 2010As the chair of this session I will start. On my walk to work this morning I got beeped at by BMW's C1 scooter whilst crossing the road. This, my most detested mockery of two-wheeled transport, beeped at me for no reason whatsoever but what angered me more was the pitiful horn the BMW has, it was a roadrunner like ‘meep’.
Thumbs up for a chilly N.E.C.
Wed, 08 Dec 2010Apart from the freaky weather I have to say last week’s Carole Nash Motorcycle Live N.E.C. show was the best Birmingham event I've attended in the ten years. I really appreciate the fact that manufacturers chose to ignore the recession giving us great stands to cater for every enthusiast young and old. Aprilia made a welcome return and I don’t know anyone that didn’t enjoy admiring the WSB RSV4, surely the the most gorgeous bike on the planet? The Honda stand rarely disappoints and this year was no exception with banking bikes providing fun for all the family.
Öhlins Introduces Electronically Adjustable Suspension System Replacement for BMW R1200GS ESA
Thu, 11 Aug 2011Öhlins has introduced what it is calling the world’s first replacement electronic suspension system, with a new aftermarket replacement kit for the BMW R1200GS’s Enduro ESA system. Like BMW‘s ESA and ESA II technology, Öhlins’ system lets riders adapt a motorcycle’s suspension with the push of a button. Öhlins’ system works with the R1200GS’s ECU and the existing user interface.
